Ancestral Tattoo Studio — Local services in Distrito de Cusco

While planning a visit to Cusco I decided that I wanted a unique souvenir. I contacted Ancestral Tattoo via Facebook and immediately I was pleased with my choice. The person I interacted with was professional, enthusiastic and patient enough to answer any questions. I don't speak much Spanish but through some google translate we arranged my tattoo session! Prices are incredibly fair and the work was top notch.

On the day of my session my artist was again incredibly patient despite me being a little wiggly. Everything was clean and the artist made a point of showing me that he was using new needles. This is only my second tattoo. Three hours later I had a one of a kind souvenir that I've gotten endless compliments on. The only blip was I wish the aftercare instructions were a little clearer but given that I don't speak Spanish I think he did very well.

If I ever return to Cusco (and here's to hoping!) I would return for another tattoo and I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a tattoo...

I highly recommend Cesar Jimenez at Ancestral Tattoo in Cusco. He patiently worked with me on the design I wanted. Even though I speak almost no spanish and he spoke very little english, we worked together to perfect the design I wanted. He executed it with precision and professionalism. Warm energy and good vibes. I had visited a few other somewhat sketchy shops in Cusco before finding him, and I immediately felt comfortable with him as a foreigner in his country and knew he was the one. I have been tattooed by several artists in multiple countries, and I can say honestly that I have never experienced an artist with such a light, gentle hand. I felt almost no pain. I wish all of my tattoos were as painless as the tattoo I received from Cesar. If you are a traveler like myself and are at all apprehensive about getting tattooed in a foreign country, Cesar is your man. He had all safety certifications and was clean, professional, and caring. 10 out of 10!!...

How can one give more than 5 stars? Perfect service for a last minute tattoo.I have NEVER gotten a tattoo on vacation or traveling-- I'm often afraid of it getting infected and am very particular about my artist back at home. I saw one of Joseph's flash illustrations randomly on google and after hiking Machu Picchu thought I absolutely needed his work. He was so easy to work with, had me come in and talk about the design, etc. Figured out the perfect sizing to fit in with my other tattoos. The studio itself was very clean and hygenic, and Joseph accomodated getting it in literally the night before I flew out and the night before he had to fly to Lima. He took his time, and every single part of this tattoo was done with care. He consulted about color and understood to do something artistic within the parameters of the other type of tattoos I have.
