I stayed here for 3 nights.
What I liked about the hotel:
The hotel is in a strategic location (close to most important places in Cusco center) giving them a big competitive advantage despite their substandard service. -The aesthetics are great .. beautiful I would say.. The rooms look neat and tidy. -I didn't find any maintenance issues. -Unlike other reviews, I didn't find the place noisy. Hotel is reasonably priced again giving them a great advantage especially for those who plan to hike.
What I didn't like:
-The front desk service got worse each day. -The first day was good, the second day was bad, and the third day was the worst. There was one room service guy, a tall guy who seemed to be more sincere than the rest of the staff. -The front desk staff seemed to be working because they had no choice, and this showed in their service. I'd rate the service 1 star. -Being used to a tropical climate, I found the hotel very cold. I asked about the heat on the first day, and they said it turns on from 6pm to 6am. They gave me a heater that didn't work, and this was the same each of the 3 days. If you ask for water, expect to wait 30 minutes. Water and heat are scarce at Tierra Viva :) The buffet is quite bland. This place felt more like a hostel with a private room based on the water, food, and heat issues I mentioned. Please note, I came as a solo female traveler. I'd be curious to hear from solo female travelers than...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed her for a week and absolutely recommend it. Great location that's close to everything (sitting basically between the Plaza de Armas and the San Pedro market, with lots of shops and restaurants seconds away). Amazing and very helpful staff - with Wilson in particular worth mentioning as someone who went above and beyond and was really knowledgeable about the area. They've also got great recommendations for (and can schedule for you) a cab company that can take you all around the Sacred Valley - waiting for you at each location and bringing you right back. Great for visiting at your own pace.
The breakfast spread is also worth mentioning; some good variety day-to-day and lots of fresh fruit to go with their various protein options. Other nice touches include the 24-hour coca and muña tea available in the lobby, and the bottled water dropped off each day in your room while you're out and about.
Finally, the rooms were all really nice (we ended up staying in 2 different ones since we spent a night at Aguas Calientes), with big comfortable beds and one of them even had a really nice loft area...
Read moreNice hotel located in the cusco historic district a few minute walking distance to San pedro market, plaza de armas, and other major landmarks. Lots of restaurants, markets and stores at your door step. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great woth buffet style and a la carte and opens at 5am. There is free mint and coca tea in thr lobby. Rooms are clean and have a mix of old incan charm woth modern finishes. Bed was comfy. The downfall: we were located on the mainfloor near thr courtyard and you can hear everyone talking outside. Also, we could hear heavy loud footsteps from the room upstairs through the night so we did not get a good sleep especially considering you have to be up early for most the tours (between 330 and 430 am); we were here for 4 nights. Highly recommend staying here but requesting a room on the 2nd floor (which we did upon reservation but still ended up in 1st floor). Shower was hot with good pressure. Room comes with hear but no a.c or fan. Recommend hotel places a fan in each room. A kettle amd mini fridge would also be...
