I don't like leaving bad reviews but I feel people staying here need to have an honest opinion before committing to stay here.||||First thing - the price was low, so you don't expect much, and my gripe is what they claim to offer but don't.||||On a positive to start with, the rooms were very clean and you can get a warm shower.||||Ok... ||So the 24hour desk doesn't exist... There is a desk.. however it is never manned, we stayed 3 nights and never saw a member of staff other than when we checked in.||||When we arrived at the hostel we spent nearly half an hour outside ringing the be to get in, until finally another guest arrived back and let us in.||Another guest then had to phone a member of staff to check us in.||||We were early and so a room wasn't ready yet, we were shown to a luggage store where we could leave our stuff and take a walk around town... This luggage store is not locked, and not monitored I will add.||||We weren't shown around or told where anything was... When we explored later we found the lounge and bar they claim to have... The bar was abandoned and not stocked and covered in half eaten plates of food which is guess had been there at least a week judging by the growth on them.||||3days later when we try to check out at 7pm (having left at 4am for a tour) there's no one around... So we can't pay... But we have a bus to Lima to catch....||||Then we get a nasty email from them threatening police action... Which wouldn't have been necessary if they had a member of staff on the desk (btw there are no 'staff' at this joint, just one lad in his early 20's winging the whole thing)||||Now if you're looking for a hostel in this area you'll probably know the only reason for visiting Huaraz is all the hiking and climbing tours, all which leave before 7am... So not having someone around for people to check out is ludicrous...||||This has the ability to be a really good hostel, but it needs to be tidied up in the communal areas and they need to offer the services they claim to - put your prices up a little if this is...
Read moreI had a great time there. The admin is a very friendly and helpful person. I was going to stay for a week, but due to a personal emergency I had to leave earlier. He was very understanding of this and only charged me for the days I spent there. The place has a kitchen with a stove, fridge and everything you need to cook your own meals. There’s hot water and wifi (it’s a bit unstable, but that’s a Huaraz-wide problem). I recommend this place if you’re backpacking / travelling...
Read moreLet me just say that Andy is one of the nicest owners of a hostel I have ever met. Also, this hostel is dirt cheap at 3$ a night. However, lack of toilet seats and mirrors, no lockers for stuff (one person in my room tried to steal my stuff) and wifi that constantly cuts out are issues. Plus, the beds are a bit lumpy and the kitchen is a bit small. If you don't mind these things, it is not a bad...
