A few months ago I visited Celeste Solar Bar*, located on the 10th floor of the Hyatt hotel in San Isidro, Lima, Peru. Being situated in one of the most exclusive areas of the city, the service from the moment we arrived at the reception was impeccable. We had made a reservation for a Friday night in June, and the rooftop offers beautiful views of the surrounding area, which made for a great atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the night was the live music, which was fantastic. I’d say the venue is aimed at a crowd over 30 years old, with a chic and relaxed vibe. However, the only downside was that the music was just too loud. It made having conversations with friends nearly impossible. While I love live music, I feel that the volume should be toned down a bit—if I wanted that level of noise, I’d go to a nightclub, not a rooftop bar. A more balanced sound level would make the experience much more enjoyable.
As for the food, the menu focuses on small bites and appetizers. My friends ordered the chicken & waffles, which didn’t impress us much—it was a bit dry and felt too simple for a place like this. Peru is known for its incredible and diverse cuisine, so we were hoping for something more refined. On the other hand, the spring rolls were absolutely spectacular—definitely a must-try! The carbonara croquettes and cheeseburgers were also quite pleasant, offering solid flavor and presentation.
The drinks were more than satisfactory, though not quite perfect. They were well-made and enjoyable, adding to the overall experience. While they didn’t completely blow me away, they were certainly good enough to complement the lovely ambiance and make the evening feel special.
Overall, Celeste Solar Bar is a beautiful spot with great views and a lively atmosphere, but I would recommend it more for the ambience and drinks than for a culinary experience. If you’re looking for a nice place to enjoy the view and music (and don’t mind the volume), it’s...
Read moreHola! Soy Canadase y I brought my Canadian family to Celeste for their renowned service. However, not only was the service extremely slow, it was terrible. The group of us (6) ordered pisco sours. The first round was okay, typical of what we would expect BUT it was VERY slow. Approximately 25 min for the first round of drinks.
After we received the first round, we ordered another round of pisco sours. It took over 30 min to arrive on a Thursday. And they tasted very off. Very bitter. We discussed this with our server and he argued that they were okay, even though they did not taste okay to two local Peruvians. When they brought our next round of drinks to replace the bad round, it took over another 30 minutes. We told the staff this THIRD round of Piscos tasted better, but we were unimpressed with the service and timing.
Then, to RIGHT the mistakes they made, the bar offered us “complimentary “ chips and dip. However, when we received the bill.. they charged us 685 soles for the worst service and worst drinks we have ever had in Peru. After they reassured us that the bill would be covered due to the poor service and drinks , they charged us an outrageous amount.
We are loyal customers of Hyatt. And disclosed our concerns with staff. We are appalled by the service and qualify of this experience. 0/10 and would not recommend to any local friends or any friends...
Read moreI went to meet up with some friends that were there yesterday and the whole experience was very offputting.
When I arrived, the host said that the table was full and that I wouldn’t be able to go up. When I asked if they could just pull up another chair, she said that they couldn’t do that and suggested that we buy a booth for 1500 soles!
When I told my friends this, they said that the waiter would bring me up. I went to wait by the elevator and the security guard was extremely rude to me to the point where I told him to calm down.
This place turned a night out with friends into something dramatic and complicated. It was very lame. The only reason why I am not giving it one star is bc the Viva La Vida drink was...
