Not worth the money…. There are many other worthy, reasonable options in Machu Picchu.
We booked a queen bed for 2 persons, for 3 nights at the Qoya Palace through hotels.com because of the description provided on their site - which is not at all accurate. Although there were some things that were acceptable, this hotel should not be highly rated as the accommodations simply are not in line with inflated the price it is offered at.
Positives: First, the staff was nice enough and the building was somewhat clean. The elevator worked, the beds are firm but comfortable enough, and the 7th floor breakfast area has a nice view (when sitting down), but don’t look below the window level. The outside air was cold when we were here (3rd week in February)but the staff kindly provided a portable heater, which made a huge difference in our comfort level.
Mediocre stuff: Breakfast was just okay and included cooked to order eggs, fresh fruit, cold rolls, small slices of ham product, cheese, coffee, tea and juice. However, there was no breakfast available at all on the day we went to see the Citadel (even though I verified with them twice the night before). Breakfast is typically served from 6-8 a.m. but the inconsistency left us to scramble for something to eat before we left. We met the gentleman that serves breakfast at 6:20 in the elevator (he was just getting out of bed); he was apologetic and followed us to the lobby to unlock the front entrance so that we could leave the building.
Now, on to negatives:
1 - We made the mistake of accepting an offer to let them clean our room; we were required to surrender our room key for the day, the garbage was never emptied, we had to ask for toilet paper, and our single hand towel was never returned because “it was still drying”. They only tidied the already made bed, and we had to wait while they looked for the key when we got back in the evening.
2 - Hot tap water takes about 4 minutes to reach the shower and it consistently changes to ice water quickly, with no time to rinse out the soap in your hair - very unpleasant.
3 - The location was close to the train station so leaving a window open for ventilation invited the smell of burning garbage, raw diesel fuel and diesel exhaust into the room which was overwhelming at times.
4 - We were told that we could not pay our bill when we arrived “because it’s raining”, (which happens daily here). When we tried to pay at the end of our stay we were told that we needed to pay cash or pay a 5% up-charge to use a credit card, however, no other business in this town required an up-charge or convenience fee to use a card, not one.
So, in summary, the accommodations at Qoya Palace are definitely not worth even the hotel’s rack rate of $75. When I asked why my cost was so much higher than the rack rate I was told that the rack rate “is not for you”. By the time I realized the discrepancies in the description of this hotel it was too late to move without losing all of the money spent or...
Read moreWe were at the Hotel Qoya Palace -Machupichu for one night, it is very near the train station, the Lady at the front desk was nice at the beginning, gave us out room keys, informed us of were to but the bus tickets for Machu Pichu, we left to buy our tickets, There was a long line of people trying to but entrance tickets to Machu Pichu, long wait about 2-3 hours and no guarantee you would get tickets, ( we bought our tickets in advance) any way, we returned to the hotel and went to our room which was small, but clean not bad, ok for one night, but the TV did not work, we told the front desk lady and she did not help us with the TV at all, the WIFI was not working either. it was only one night so we did not persisted on the TV internet issue, we decided to go out for dinner, the lady stopped us to request if we could leave the next morning at 10 am ( check out for that hotel is at 11 am) at that point we were not happy with the service at all, we left at 10:45 the next morning, Breakfast was small menu was limited, the view at the breakfast area was Beautiful, but will not return to Qoya Palace hotel.||||P.S. they keep our bags locked for the day we went to Pachu Pichu, that was the only nice thing...

The hotel is located in a very quiet street. Thankfully no outside noise not even from the trains. At the first occassion there aas knly cold water. After i reported rthis to reception the issue was solved. But as this happens so many times accoding the reviews. This should never occur ! This s why i give only 2 stars for service. Therefor no value for money .
