The guy who runs it was amazing—very helpful and thoughtful at all times. The hostel is fairly well located, but the noise… omg. Impossible to go to bed early because of all the noise coming from outside.
There was an issue with the hot water while we were there, but it was resolved. I don't think it's an everyday issue, so it was understandable. Our bathroom sink leaked, so the floor was constantly wet, and there was a persistent damp smell in the room, even though we occasionally opened the window for ventilation.
The aunties who cleaned the place were also amazing. We stayed there for three nights, and every morning they were up early making sure everything was spotless for the new guests. They offered to clean our room every day—we declined the first time because we didn’t want to bother them, but accepted after the second night as they insisted on tidying up and changing our towels. It was lovely to come back to a clean room after walking around town.
Breakfast was included and pretty simple: tea, juice, two small but soft and delicious breads, butter, jam, and scrambled eggs made fresh by a lady once she saw you seated. I think the breakfast system could be explained better—it wasn’t, so I had to figure it out by watching others, and I ended up explaining it to a few guests myself. Breakfast was also served very early (6–8am), which wasn’t ideal for us since our tickets to Machu Picchu were for later in the day, so there was really no need for such an early start 😮💨🥱.
If I could rate something very poorly, it would be the guests. Unbelievable lack of common sense or awareness. Every morning we were woken up at 4am by people slamming doors, knocking loudly on other doors, and talking like it was midday😤. Zero respect for anyone trying to sleep. A real shame. -100000 for all of them👎.
Overall, if you don’t mind walking a bit more and can handle the party noise outside, this is a good place...
Read moreThe staff are accommodating but too loud. All you can hear are the staff and owners yelling and taking to each other. The owners’ child kept screaming and shouting. There is a smell of dampness on the room and there is mold everywhere. The door was patched with a file case cover. The walls are so thin, you can hear everything. You can hear the outside construction. If you want to rest after a long tour or day of hiking/trekking then do NOT stay here. I’ve honestly no idea how they have such good review on bookings.com because the noise level is actually disrespectful. It doesn’t feel like a hotel. It feel like a...
Read moreThe rooms are moldy and old. The door was patched up with a file case cover. There was so much of noise, children shouting and just blatant inconsideration that it’s meant to be a hotel where people rest after trekking or touring. So much of banging, construction, shouting, children screaming, the tap kept running and making this slithering sound. The staff were accommodating but doesn’t make up for the fact that there was no professionalism in noise control. It has hot water, relatively clean rooms, but a lot of...
