I was looking for a safe, cheap and clean place to stay overnight (unplanned) before my visit to Machu Picchu and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. Samananchis is right next door to the hot springs pools and a beautiful waterfall walk. While I waited for my room to be ready, I left my bag, went next door to the entrance gate and paid a small fee, then hiked up to the waterfall, enjoying a sculpture trail, wildlife, and incredible views. Unfortunately I didn't have time to enjoy a dip in the natural hot springs but loads of other people were loving it! ||The hotel is a bit of a hike up the hill from the bus depot, but well worth it as the river below will help you drift off to sleep each night. This is a family-run place which was so nice, and everyone was extremely helpful and didn't mind my terrible Spanish. Everyone was so helpful and friendly, the included breakfast was generous and delicious, and the location is amazing for the price. I wish I could have stayed another night here. As a solo female traveller, I felt extremely safe and welcome. The bed was very comfy...
Read moreI arrived in Aguas Calientes around 7 and walked to the hostel, about 5 minutes from the train station. I had booked 2 nights through Hostelworld and when I told the front desk of my booking, they had my name in their system with my reservation. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a room for me and I had to stay the first night next door at an affiliated hostel that was not quite as nice. This caused issues trying to meet my guide for the following day because the front desk was not properly staffed and, although the hostel staff said they would let the guide know where I was, it took him an hour longer to find me because no one was at the front desk when he was there. ||||The rooms in Samananchis were not bad, comfortable beds, hot water, and nice ambience. Unfortunately, my toilet didn’t flush, which was quite an inconvenience. When I checked out, they charged a 10% fee for using credit card. While this hostel itself was nice enough, i had a fairly poor experience and wouldn’t...
Read moreAs many tourists do, we stayed in Aguas Clientes only for one night.||The guy from the hotel came to pick us up at the station and walked us to the hotel, checked us in and that's all the contact we had with the hotel staff. Not that we needed any more, the morning after we left the keys on the reception desk and left for Machu Picchu.||The place is ok, between a hostel and a hotel, but it's nice. The 4 people room was cosy and spacious, on the top floor. Since it had been raining, it was like having the river which is outside the hotel right inside the room the whole night. Noise doesn't bother me while sleeping, but my friends had to use ear plugs.||The service was nice, they even offered to pack our breakfast to go in the morning and we found it ready labelled with our names on the counter.||I don't know if I'd stay more than one night (we didn't even use the shower) but for a quick stop the place...
