My husband and I were staying overnight in Ollantaytambo on our way to Machu Picchu. I chose this hotel because the photos looked nice and it was near the train station. The hotel wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. It was affordable but that's about the best thing I can say. Our room was not only bare bones, it was dated and our "view" was the exterior stairwell. I don't care about a view, per se, but our window looked out directly onto the stairwell and the hallway to other rooms and it was zero privacy. There was a security light that BLAZED into our room all night, our flimsy curtains did very little to block it out. The bathroom was bizarrely narrow and I stubbed my toe quite badly on a tile that was missing near the toilet. The stub was so terrible I had a hard time hiking at M.P. the next day. There was NO hot water at night. NONE. Not a drop. Free breakfast is included but we had to rush for our early morning train, so all I can say is that they have Nespresso (yay!) but for a pricey extra charge. Honestly, I wish I had just sucked it up to walk further to the train and stayed more in the older, cobble-stoned...

The main problem was that there was no heat other than a tiny space heater that I had to ask for and that barely worked. They did provide two thick blankets, but that was hardly enough on a 45-degree Fahrenheit night. Window in the bathroom was broken, shower was dirty, doors didn't fit well on the frames so opening them was extremely loud, walls were thin, outlets barely worked... I normally don't leave bad reviews, but my night was so uncomfortable that I feel I have to warn people that this place isn't as nice as the pictures make it seem. Staff was well-meaning, they are just...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for one night before heading for MP early in the morning.||But you can easily stay for 2-3 nights if you want to explore the ruins in Ollantay. The hot was nice. Even though she understood/spoke little English, we managed to get the job done. Train station is very close only 5 minutes walk. We took an early morning Peru Rail (4:30 reporting at the station) and started from the hotel at 4:15 am. The host had packed us fruits and croissants for breakfast which was really nice.||||From our room, we could listen the Urubamba river flowing which was very pleasant if you leave your window open. Some pictures attached...
