We decided to visit this restaurant because of the high reviews on Google Maps, but unfortunately, we left very disappointed. I ordered alpaca meat and my husband ordered beef with noodles.
My alpaca meat was extremely tough and hard to chew, while the mashed potatoes were overly salty. At first, I thought perhaps alpaca meat is naturally tough, but then I tried my husband’s beef—also dry and chewy, despite us ordering it “well done.”
We also ordered fries, but instead they brought baby potatoes. We clarified that we wanted regular fries, and the waiter said “okay,” but nothing was ever brought.
We were very hungry, so my husband ate his beef even though he didn’t like it. I could only eat a little bit of mashed potato and one piece of meat—about 70% of my dish was left untouched, and the baby potatoes weren’t touched at all.
When the plates were cleared, the waitress never asked if we enjoyed the meal or why I hadn’t finished mine. Instead, she kept cheerfully repeating “very good, very good,” as though avoiding giving us the chance to say otherwise. Nothing was taken off the bill, no discount offered, and to our surprise we were even asked if we wanted to leave a tip.
In the end, we paid $120—prices you’d expect in Canada, not here—and walked away very...
Read moreThere aren’t enough good things to say about this restaurant, it’s an absolute GEM! Starting off with the aesthetic.. SO cute! Every single detail from the ceiling to the walls to the placemats is just perfectly decorated and thought out. The menu has a good variety of Peruvian dishes so you can’t go wrong. I had the vegetarian ceviche which highlighted apples as the start and just WOW! The texture was so similar to actual fish I almost wondered if I got the traditional version. The flavors literally explode in your mouth. Also tried the pumpkin cream soup which was beautifully plated and added some warmth to a chilly day. My boyfriend got the cuy which I did not try but for his first time trying the dish, he was very pleasantly surprised. The dish was flavorful and cohesive, again a beautiful plate of food. Now to the service.. amazing! Our waiter spoke Spanish and English and was quite possibly the friendliest human being I’ve ever met. So bright and delightful, he just added to an already perfect dining experience! If you are in Ollantaytambo, this place is a MUST! Affordable pricing and fresh, local flavors. I’d eat here every...

We had an early lunch today at Chullpi in Ollantaytambo, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, with great music that adds to the relaxed vibe. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out at just the right pace.
Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and well-prepared. I had the trout ceviche and a hamburger—both were flavorful and beautifully presented. My husband ordered an alpaca dish that was perfectly cooked and tender. He asked for some ají to accompany the potatoes, and the chef kindly prepared a fresh one on the spot, which was a lovely touch.
We were also impressed with the baby-friendly options. We ordered a zapallo purée for our 11-month-old, and it was delicious—simple, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared.
Chullpi truly stands out for its quality food, warm service, and inviting ambiance. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting...
