Vertical Sky Luxury Suites — Hotel in Ollantaytambo

Our family stayed at the Vertical Sky Luxury Suites during our visit to Ollantaytambo in June, and overall, it was a truly unique and unforgettable experience.||The setting is absolutely beautiful, and the concept of sleeping in a glass pod hanging off the mountainside is as thrilling as it sounds. I had requested the pod nearest to the top to make things easier for our girls, and the staff was very accommodating. Since our pod was the highest one, we were able to enter and exit on our own without needing assistance or special equipment. Other pods lower down require guides and gear to access, which may be more challenging for families with younger children. We felt safe the entire time and really enjoyed the novelty of it all.||However, there are a few things families should be aware of. Check-in is listed as 2 pm, but in reality, you are held at the reception area until the sun begins to set. The reason is understandable as the pods become very hot in the afternoon sun, but it meant we lost time we could have spent exploring Ollantaytambo.||Once the sun sets, the temperature drops quickly. The pods are freezing at night, and the small heater provided made little to no difference. We bundled up, but it was definitely a cold night’s sleep!||Another downside is the dining situation. Because of the remote location, guests are required to eat dinner at the on-site restaurant. The food was just okay and very overpriced compared to anywhere else we ate in Peru. The drink menu is listed in US dollars and is especially expensive, much more than what you would find in town.||Despite the downsides, we are glad we had the experience. Our stay at Vertical Sky Luxury Suites was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, everything went exactly as planned, and the staff exceeded our expectations with their warmth and professionalism.|Getting to the capsule was an adventure in itself—and absolutely worth it! Our guide, Juan Carlos, was amazing. He was incredibly patient as we made our way up the hill, sharing fascinating facts about the local area and even pointing out edible wild plants along the trail. He also took great photos and videos for us, capturing the entire experience beautifully.|The capsule exceeded all of our expectations. It was cozy, comfortable, and well-equipped—with a comfy bed, WiFi, power outlets, a heater, a blow dryer, and all the necessary amenities. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and thoughtfully prepared, adding to the overall luxury of the experience.|We especially loved relaxing in the jacuzzi and spending time on the deck at night under the stars. We also opted to zip line down for our exit, and we highly recommend it—it was such a fun and thrilling way to end the experience.|I also want to give a special thank you to Gaby and Juan Carlos for their outstanding hospitality. Amazing experience waking up every morning in the sky! We booked a dome as we were with our eight year old daughter. We were picked up at the train station in the evening after our trip to Machu Picchu, then brought up the mountain after which Juan Carlos came and picked us up with ATV. It was such a cool experience doing in the dark under the stars! My daughter loved it and looked forward to the atv ride everyday. Even though it was late, Gabby and Senor Felix and the team greeted us and brought us our amazing dinner. It was so delicious, we had dinner here the next evening too! Breakfast was great too with delicious fruits and tasty custom eggs. Giancarlo connected me with Eddy The Puma for our horseback riding adventure and it was one of the best experiences we ever had!
