Pros: ||- The owners Miguel & Maria are a lovely couple, always on hand to help||- Location is central, one block from Plaza de Armas and Av. Lima's many restaurants & shops ||- Room's clean & quiet, bed's firm, small heater provided & hair-dryer on request||- Basic breakfast included||- Coffee & tea station in lobby||- Cheap for the location||||Cons: ||- Our room's window faced a back wall, so there was no natural light||- Room had one energy-saving ceiling light, no other lights, so it was quite dingy||- Sparsely furnished with one chair and half a wardrobe||- Bathroom sink has only cold water||- Tiny shower cubicle has hot water once switched on, but not adjustable, and water pressure's not strong; no soap provided||||We visited Puno in mid-May, when night-time temps dropped to -1C, so the cold room and icy water made for a less-than-comfortable 2 nights. The chill factor wouldn't apply in warmer weather. ||||The posada had been open only 7 months when we stayed so can only improve with experience and feedback as the owners are on-site and obviously determined to make a success of their...
Read moreI stayed here for only one night but had a pleasant experience the whole time right from check-in to check-out. Staff were very friendly though most of them don't speak English. I accidentally locked the bathroom and the owner(I think) brought like 50 keys or so to try opening it and luckily it took the 5th key to open it. :-) Love the location since it is close to Lima street where all the shops are and the square is nearby as well. Room is very spacious and bed was very comfortable. Couple of minor issues.I was staying in Rm 201 which faces the street and unfortunately the curtains didn't block the light much but not a big issue since I was tired and was able to sleep quickly. And the shower takes 3 mins to get hot water. Again not a deal breaker. You just have to plan it accordingly. They even let me leave my bags while I went on a tour to lake Titicaca. They serve breakfast in the 4th floor, simple but good for the price. Even though there are some minor issues, considering the price, friendliness of the staff and the location, I would overlook the issues...
Read moreHad high expectations as it rates on another popular site with 9 out of 10 points. While it is true that the owners are very friendly and helpful, it does not make up for the very cold rooms. The provided heater did as much as nothing. The breakfast was the poorest I had so far on my trip trough Peru. The shower needed 3 min to heat up and was so small that the ray of water was actually more going out than where i would have stood. The energy saving lightbulb doesnt improve the mood. All in all rather poor, bit than again also very cheap. You get what you pay for! Should pay for a little more in Puno, ecause ending up with a cold is not worth...
