Initially when we arrived we were told there were no rooms and that booking.com had closed the previous day so we couldnāt have a booking- even though we had booked the previous day and had our booking confirmation- the lady at the front desk was not helpful or apologetic, only telling us she had no rooms. Eventually on finding that we did have a booking she apologised profusely. We felt that this was highly unprofessional in the beginning as we had arrived quite late in the evening and would have had an issue finding somewhere else at short notice and felt she was only apologetic because she realised that she made a mistake. We stayed in the superior double room- which at first glance, was clean and spacious with great views of the city. |The bath was also fantastic- with hot water and great pressure.||We realised that there was no hair dryer in the room- and the next day asked for one at reception. There was a different lady at reception and she was super helpful and kind and she also helped us to arrange our taxi service to the airport.||We had our bedding changed that day and that night when we went to bed we actually realised the bedding was dirty. We were too tired to care or complain because we were leaving at 4.45am the following morning. |The stains on the sheets included that they had been drawn on- some weird red stains- and what looked like a spot of blood. I really really do not think that this is the standard or quality you would expect from such a hotel. I think this needs to improve as this is a basic requirement of any hotel no matter the quality or price. ||In general aside from the stains on the sheets and the issue when we first arrived; the hotel was average to nice, the breakfast was good and the views from the upper restaurant were also nice.||I did not think - considering our experience - that it was good value for money. We were lucky that we found a booking.com discount for the place paying $88USD - but we definitely would not have paid the $240 USD per night being asked for. But regardless of the discounted price we paid the dirty sheets really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom has a large tub. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. However the issues with the hotel are:
1.) noisy railroad borders the property, party goers party all night. So there is a chance of lack of sleep. Bring sleeping pills
2.) night and early morning service, if they donāt speak English will not be helpful at all. Theyāll purposely not answer the phone if they canāt understand you. Toilet clogged for two days and I couldnāt get anyone to come unclog it because they couldnāt understand me. So frustrating.
This was my first time in Peru so I canāt truly compare this hotel to others that I havenāt been to. With all honesty this hotel seemed more modern than other buildings, before choosing Iād recommend reading up on other hotels. Otherwise I could see my self staying again but make sure to get a room on the street side not the backside (railroad).
Location isnāt bad, itās not walking distance from the tourist areas but not too far for a Uber ride. Across the street they have a shopping mall (flea market style) where you can buy pretty much anything. Hotel provides laundry service if you need it but around the corner is a cheap laundromat where you can drop your clothes off to get them cleaned for later pick up. Supermarket is also close by. We felt safe.
They have breakfast on the rooftop cafe. Itās decent with your typical choices of breakfast items such as eggs, cereal, oatmeal, etc.
As for the area, I felt safe. The people of Cusco are very friendly and welcoming. Be aware that altitude sickness is real here. The people are used to it but the traveler isnāt. Youāll feel exhausted and have shortness of breath simply walking short distances. We had to call a doctor to come to the room as one of our family members got sick back due to the altitude. The hotel was very helpful in this matter.
All in all the hotel is fine with the worst part being the noise...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA non existant customer service mi8, the reception staff very unfriendly and unhopeful, cold, since they know that you are not coming back they don't care at all. Very very basic breakfast, very old building, it's between the train rack and the main street, a single glass, when the train passes by, it is like your sitting in the train. The noise from the cars makes it hard to sleep, if you are having early tours. The towels old, and with stains, bed sheets with wholes. Walls with stains. The floor of the bathroom hasn't been clean, you see ladies long hair, plus the stains from my flip-flops form when I took a shower. I had the floor shower only when I arrived, never got a new one, the hand towels, they took them but never got replaced. The only positive thing I have to say is the bad was confortable, and one of the breakfast staff was really nice (forgot her name), the other one I asked her for three fried eggs, she said I can have only two, meanwhile I have booked the room for two, and my friend lost his flight. The other positive thing I can say, they let me store my staff while I was gone to Aguas Calientes for one night. I had 2 bookings with them. By the way it was raining, and I asked if I can borrow umbrella, they said they don't have, first time ever I hear that a hotel dose not provide one for their guests, and it's a rainy season.|One more thing the other friends booked in an other hotel, one of them came over so we can organise the trip to Aguas Calientes, they didn't let him Inn, after I called, they let him and gave us 20 min, if we wanted to talk longer we had to go downstairs, what on earth is this, am I back to my childhood and to my grandparents house?||Sincerely there away much better...
