Had bed bugs!!!! There were signs once I got to the room which I only associated later, so they (as professionals) sure needed to notice that before. Considering the fact that when I checked in the toilet paper roll was half used and the soap bottle dirty and used as well, not surprised if they didn’t even change sheets (it also had lots of dark stains)||Could only blame myself for being too tired to notice all these and go away once I checked in.||||The staff did transfer me to another room at night and helped me with the clothes that touched the infected bed, but considering the fact that a google search for an unskilled eye showed clearly that there are bed bugs, it is still the hotel’s complete fault, in this case, to not notice in advance.||(And in the second room there were LOTS of hairs in the blanket)|| ||If they would apologize and maybe suggest some kind of partial refund at least upon check out they would come out much better. Too bad they didn't, it's pretty basic.||||So if you’re coming to this hotel, please at least check your sheets very well and search online how to check, hopefully, it won’t be relevant to you…||||Bed bugs can happen everywhere, but it's how to place prepares for it, and handles such an event is that matters.||||Other than that-||Breakfast was embarrassing, I’m not spoiled but didn’t even want to eat it. (Hard-boiled, non pilled, eggs and a few vegetables that looked bad)||||Had drilling noises in the morning, not sure from where||||Could hear very loud everything from the hallway and whenever another room’s door was open the noise from there||||I can say that the...

I have tried a number of hotels in Dumaguete as I’m there several times per year for work. So, far I have found the Henia to be the best of the many bad options in Dumaguete ||Here are the positives |- It is clean|- the elevator is in good working order|- The bathroom works well including reasonably hot water for shower. The water pressure is decent but not great|- they provide reasonable amenities in the room, including shampoo and dental kit|- there is a bottle in each room that can be filled with filtered water near the elevator |- if you select a “family” room, it is reasonably big with two queen beds|- check in/check out is relatively quick, which is rarely the case in small hotels in the Philippines |There is a pharmacy next door that has cold drinks and any OTC meds you may need||Here is the not so good|- The beds are hard. I like a relatively firm mattress but these are too firm for me|- In the afternoon, when it gets hot, I found the AC really couldn’t keep up and the room was too warm. Not terrible, but not really comfortable |- In many rooms I have found the USB and outlets by the bed do not work. Some do, some don’t |- The bathrooms are sort of dark and depressing|- the bed linens are cheap, the pillows are overly firm and the towels are very rough|- there is an incredible amount of road noise during the day, even when you are on an upper floor||Also, warning, be careful which room you select. The cheapest room is barely big enough for the queen bed and a closet. The bathroom is basically a very small glassed enclosure with a small shower and toilet. These rooms do not even...

In summary the hotel is nice and central in the city, conveniently next to the public market. Amenities are simple and (mostly) working, and the staff are friendly. The hotel itself is clean but not modern, everything mostly works. Cheap value hotel, get what you pay for. I always say I'm pretty low maintenance, but this was a basic hotel experience, at best. Maintenence department is an issue and NEEDS to improve.

I booked a King Double room.

Cons/Negatives: the single small window in my room faced directly into a wall, less than a meter away. So zero natural light, it took me a while to even figure out its a window. the shower did not work, and was gunked up with some nasty green/black mould or something. I asked 4 times to have this fixed/replaced, and never was solved. Could never take a good shower, forced to use the hand shower head. It was honestly pretty gross. the building and general state is very dated and not modern at all, but pretty clean. Maintenance is not great, but everything MOSTLY works. the breakfast facilities are simple and satisfactory, but took some time to find the missing staff. Breakfast did not taste super fresh.

Pros/Positives: Location of the hotel was central and accessible. Central public market is opposite, a pharmacy next door, 7-eleven around the corner, very good location. the staff were friendly and helpful. it is pleasantly quiet and calm within the hotel. towels were...

The first day,I booked a family room. but as soon as I walked in, I saw cockroaches, so they changed the room.(There was no apology) On the second day, I booked a double room. In the morning, I told them that I didn't want to change rooms because I was afraid of seeing cockroach again, but they refused. “Aizie”(maybe manager) told me not to worry because she had double-checked and the room was clean. I believed her and moved rooms at 12 noon. But as soon as I moved into the room, I found a moth stuck to the curtain. There was also a lot of hair and dust around the door. When I spoke to her about this, she just said with a nonchalant expression. "I told the housekeeper, go back upstairs". There was not a single word of apology, and the expression and tone of voice was very insensitive and insincere. We got angry and she just said she would give us a free upgrade to keep the room we were using. Still haven't gotten an apology from anyone! Is this really worthy of a 3-star hotel? This hotel does not qualify as a 3-star. Also, “Aizie” is not qualified to be a hotelier. My first trip to Dumaguete will go down as a very bad memory.

Brand new hotel, opened September 2018. Very well appointed with premium fittings and furnishings for world class luxury comfort. Breakfast included as standard, although a basic breakfast, the 2nd floor dining room has floor to ceiling windows on the street corner adding a real Dumaguete flavour to the start of a tourist day. Unlike most good hotels, it's in the center of downtown (instead of water front), and directly opposite the public market. The price is excellent value... Cheapest to book via Agoda. Breakfast service was a little disappointing, but overall I'm very happy to stay at Henia. Our first night in Dumaguete was at the Vintage hotel next door, about the cheapest in town... But I was so dissapointed, our second night we booked at Henia. This week we are back again, and staying at Henia. It's our hotel of choice in Dumaguete.

The hotel is really great situated in the heart of Dumaguete. Rooms are clean and breakfast very good. They offer buffet with local and international breakfast, coffee, hot chocolate, icetea, fruits... WiFi is everywhere in the house for free, but sometimes very slow. Staff is friendly and helpful. They gave us one breakfast for free for our nephew. Only thing to mention: if you travel with kids in a 2 person room, there is no breakfast included for children, which was nowhere mentioned at Agoda. Only on the booking confirmation is a little note at the bottom in small letters
