I feel blatantly stolen from and disrespected. I booked on Agoda, the "standard room" is ground floor and you see eye to eye with everyone walking on the beach, making it undesirable for my as I wanted the room for the view. So I booked the move expensive "deluxe sea view" as it was on the second floor and showed a private balcony, which made it worth paying more. After arriving they brought me to the ground floor with no private balcony and proceeded to spend 15 minutes telling me that it did not matter what the pictures showed on Agoda and they would not be providing me that room in the pictures I booked, as it was fully booked. I asked them "well what can we do? as I want the room I booked?" and the older woman at the front desk continued to tell me (progressively more dismissively and rudely for a room that I paid over $80 a night for, without breakfast included, tho it is only $75 with free breakfast if you just walk in) that the pictures do not matter, and I would not be refunded or get the room I booked, because the ground floor without the private balcony and having both beach goers and people working there walk feet away from my glass door and looking in at me and my partner was "just as good". They then offered me the cheaper "standard room" without any discount or credit for breakfast, and I told them I would solve it with Agoda. After speaking to the Agoda agent they called the hotel with me on the other line, and told me that "the hotel staff has told us that there are no balconies on their deluxe sea view room". I asked them to simply check the website, and they verified that I did indeed receive the wrong room, and apologized profusely on behalf of the hotel, but told me they could only give me a 10% credit on my booking. I then had to call my credit card and ask to dispute the charge and only have me over pay for the 1 night in the room I didnt book. I consider it blatant theft, I would not recommend trusting a relaxing vacsation here given how rude and dismissive and dishonest I feel the staff was, even going as far as to seemingly give false information to Agoda to try to keep my money for a room I didn't book. I moved out the next day and paid $82 for a room I didn't want that was significantly cheaper to book. Horrible experience, and it left me with a struggle to find another room on the spot in high season where everyone else was able to plan ahead and get the best rooms, tho thankfully I succeeded.. it...
Read moreWe spent 8 nights here and the room and location are perfect. The price was about 5000 pesos per night including breakfast.
Breakfast is self service and consists of a warm meat (meat loaf, chicken adobo, fried chicken, dried fish changing daily), rice, egg, soup, fruits, pandesal, sandwich bread (with toaster), cereals, milk, instant coffee and tea and juices.
However, the restaurant is only used for breakfast between 630 and 930am.
The room has a single power socket available for customer use and a shaver type socket in the bathroom. Fortunately, I travel with multi socket adapters and extension cords so we could comfortably charge phones etc in convenient locations.
There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms but I always travel with a foldable kettle so we were ok.
I am sure that the hotel would have serviced the rooms on request but bins were not emptied nor sheets changed even when out all day on a tour purchased from the hotel.
Landing in Puerto Princesa airport we were not met on arrival by the private van (7000 pesos) but had to contact the hotel. The driver did turn up some 40 minutes after we had collected our luggage and departed arrivals. There was a scheduled single stop on the way to the hotel, but the driver made 5 more stops (air, water, fuel, his dinner and a comfort break). We could have arrived and an hour earlier without these stops.
The private van back to the airport (another 7000 pesos) was much quicker as I said I did not want more than the one single stop.
WiFi coverage is good in the hotel but speeds are variable. Sometimes 50mbps othertimes unable to get a signal that could be measured.
There were two blackouts after big storms but a backup generator kicked in within seconds.
The hotel is right on the beach and no more than a minutes walk from convenience stores and restaurants.
A loud bar pumps out bass heavy music next door from 6pm to 3am every night so if you are a light sleeper that may...
Read moreOur stay at El Nido Beach Resort was fraught with issues, leading me to caution potential guests about booking here.
Upon arrival, our room was dominated by a strong, unpleasant smell, which the hotel attempted to mask with air freshener. This quick fix indicated they knew about the issue but didn’t properly address it. After persistent complaints, we were relocated two days later to a room that was marginally better, yet still below our expectations.
The cleanliness and upkeep of the room were deeply disappointing. We encountered ants, a non-working shower, a TV that wouldn’t turn on, and bed sheets with holes. Despite advertisements promising free extra beds and all-day restaurant service, we faced a surprising €25 per night fee for an additional mattress for our child, and found the restaurant only open for breakfast.
Interacting with the hotel staff was another challenge. They seemed indifferent to our concerns, making it difficult to address the issues we faced. This lack of care and professionalism only worsened our overall impression.
Considering the significant amount we paid (€550 for 7 nights), the quality of service and accommodation was unsatisfactory. The hotel’s failure to meet our expectations and their inadequate response to our issues greatly dampened our experience.
I advise anyone considering El Nido Beach Resort to think carefully. Based on our experience, the quality of stay does not justify the cost, and there’s a risk it could negatively impact...
