Hotel Review: Tiara Oriental – A Regrettable Stay
I deeply regret booking a stay at Tiara Oriental. The hotel has clearly seen better days and is far past its prime. From the moment we arrived, the experience was underwhelming and disappointing.
Room Condition
The rooms are old and poorly maintained, with a strong musty smell upon entry. Bedsheets were stained, and there were hairs left on the pillows—an immediate red flag for hygiene. The bathtub looked like it had just undergone a cheap repair, with an unsightly patch over the knob area. The toilet barely flushed, adding to the inconvenience. On top of that, basic amenities were lacking: slippers came with a fee, toothbrush sets were only available upon request, and there was no complimentary bottled water—something you’d expect as a basic courtesy in any hotel.
The lack of cleanliness extended beyond the rooms. The lobby had an unpleasant odor, and the public restrooms near the reception area reeked of foul smell, as if they hadn’t been cleaned in days. For a hotel that still markets itself as a decent option, this was extremely disappointing.
Parking Issue – Poorly Handled & Misleading One of the most frustrating parts of our stay was the parking policy. The hotel advertises free parking for guests, yet we were charged ₱500 simply for losing the parking ticket. This doesn’t make sense. If parking is truly free, the ticket should only serve a basic documentation purpose—not be used as grounds for charging a penalty. More importantly, the front desk already has a record of all staying guests, including check-in details, car plate numbers (if required), and room assignments. This information should be sufficient to verify a guest’s eligibility for parking. Requiring a small slip of paper to prove something they already know is an outdated and rigid system.
If free parking is part of what’s being marketed, it should be guest-friendly—not punitive. This experience left a very poor impression and felt unreasonable.

Read moreThe pool was not cleaned, quite obvious that it has been sometime since someone enjoyed it. It’s also located in their other building. The pool water gave us a rash.
The hotel has a business aura and not for vacationing. Elevator smells old and bad. The room vault does not work. AC does not make the room cold. There are mostly faulty faucets and sockets, the sockets are far from the bed as well. It’s giving vintage. The refrigerator was not clean.
One memorable thing about them though is their security guards, always ready to assist, always ready to greet, and to open the door either building door or car door. The wifi is good for remote work as well.
The price per night was fairly average at around 1,300-1,500...
