We (party of two) arrived at Borgna at about one hour before their posted closing time on FB, TripAdvisor, and Google (which indicate the restaurant closes at 10 PM). There was only one other group besides us at the restaurant.
We were informed before making our order that it would be the last call and we should include everything we wanted, which we were happy to comply with.
Drinks were served in a timely fashion as well as side dishes.
No sooner were our main courses served than we were presented with the bill and asked to pay immediately.
I informed the waitress that I would pay, but please give us a few minutes to get some food in our stomachs (I had just arrived on an international flight and was very hungry). The waitress walked away and a second waitress appeared two minutes later with the same demand. At this point, I simply declined.
Then the manager came to our table. He began by introducing himself as the manager of the restaurant and demanded that I pay NOW. He said the restaurant closed at 9:30 PM and the cashier needed to close up.
I relented, paid the bill, we quickly ate, and left.
If we were informed beforehand that payment was required in advance prior to the food arriving, we could have obliged or left, but the choice was not offered.
I have visited this particular Borgna on numerous occasions (three previous times close to closing) and Borgnas in Cambodia, Singapore, and Thailand, and I have never had a similar experience.
In fact, I can't remember anytime in the past 30 years that a sit down restaurant has made such a demand. It is clear the Borgna manager would prefer to make an imposition on their customers for their...
Read moreThe meat was cooked quickly, but this meant that before we were able to finish them, they got cold. There were only a few pieces left so it wasn't that big of a deal. Side dishes were good. Servers were very nice and engaging, willing and able to speak english when they get the vibe that the customer prefers one or the other. Atmosphere is okay. Hard to find within the mall, the sign for the restaurant can't be seen from the first floor in the open design of the space. Interior is okay, electric fans are everywhere probably because their air conditioning isn't working. As a large man, it was hard to get into the booth seats since the distance between the table legs and booth is so narrow. It's probably fine for most...

The food we ordered were all good quality and delicious — woo smagyup, pork belly, seafood tteobokki.
I especially liked the woo smagyup because of the marinade. All the side dishes were very good and they give you a long plate of lettuce for the meat. I think this place is really value for money!
The service was excellent. Our waitress, ms. Mary Grace, was incredibly attentive, pleasant and warm. She would observe what side dishes and sauces were running out and asked if we needed more. She also offered us free hibiscus tea at the end of our meal. Overall, the entire staff were friendly and accommodating.
I already told my friends we should come back...
