Positives: great location and comfortable bed, JUST!

Hotel is in a kind of alley, on a street with pubs and hostels. The corridors of the rooms look like deposits, it is with baskets of pillows and dirty bedding all the time. The carpet in the room and the upholstery of the sofa and chair full of disgusting stains, I didn't have the courage to sit down, the TV doesn't work, there is no air conditioning. And the internet just stops working out of nowhere and when it does it is extremely slow. I sent a message to the hotel informing my arrival time and they replied that the reception was open 24 hours, but there was no one when I arrived, just a sign with a number that I called and it started ringing at the reception itself, the attendant arrived a while later and was not at all friendly (all the staff is not kind at all, none of them is keen to help, but the rudest is the young blond guy who is on the night shift). In fact, of the 4 nights I stayed, I only saw people at the reception. In two moments, the rest never had anyone. the room was dirty there was even used toilet paper lying next to the bed. The hotel does not have security, as there is no one at reception most of the time, entry is free, anyone can come and go, and even when miraculously there is an attendant at reception there is no control over people entering and leaving. I didn't get the chance to stay in the hotel though I really wanted to. Therefore my review is about my booking experience and customer handling only. I made a mistake by booking 1 night for October instead of August. I contacted the booking dot com's customer support straight after as well as the hotel (I called and messaged them). After 10 days of forth and back between booking and the hotel, the hotel messaged me saying that the reservation cannot be modified. They didn't say that right from the start but instead kept sending my back to booking to have the reservation changed. I have worked in a travel agency and what I miss in my case here is any kind of flexibility towards the situation. The hotel would have had the possibility for a new booking for October if they would have let me change the date back to August, I was even willing to pay any difference in price.
