When looking for accommodation we were looking for the cheapest, truth be told. Cosy guesthouse looked spot on at first glance, and further research (location, google maps, street view, etc) as well as our arrival confirmed we'd struck gold.||||You're given a code to enter (we got there at 12am after a late flight) and our key was waiting in the door. It might feel odd with no reception, but it adds to the experience (you feel at home more) and Francisco - the owner - is more than happy to reply to any whatsapp messages.||||Our room (2) was big enough. With 2 single beds pushed together for a double. Comfortable and clean, with a open wardrobe, table, lamp and coat stand. ||||The shared amenities were clean enough. With a shower and toilet downstairs and an even bigger shower upstairs if you were unable to grab the downstairs shower. That said - it wasn't busy as only 4 rooms were located in the house.||||Upstairs had an open roof terrace which was perfect to lounge on or have breakfast. It provided a nice view of the backstreets of Faro and was spacious enough. ||||The kitchen was spot on - tidy and had everything you need. We opted to store food for brekkie/snacks etc and the only downside was that we were clearly sharing our stay with food thieves. Slightly annoying but the hotel doesn't pick its guests!||||As for location - it's right next to the church of bones and next to that is a supermarket. At least a 5 minute walk to both. It's also a 10 minute walk to the bus station, Football stadium and to Faro Old Town. It's location is perfect. You get to see a bit of the backstreets of Faro whilst also being a stones throw away from the rest.||||As for the neighbourhood - it's fine. Of course it may look a bit on the dirty side due to the buildings and graffitti but check out the rest of Faro and you;ll see more of the same, in fact it's always off the beaten track where you find most of the...
Read moreI stayed from the 1st of February 2025 until the 7th with my son,the host was wonderful,Sr Francisco was very helpful,he sounds like a very lovely person,he organised our transfers to get picked up from the airport and to be taken to the airport, the transfer driver was so lovely too, very helpful and kind,we could check in early as we landed early, when we checked out ,the wonderful host has allowed us to leave our luggages in the property as we had a late flight,we spent a lovely last few hours in Faro without having to carry the luggages with us all day,I loved the property and the Portuguese traditional details of the property,it is a typical Algarve house which I love, and very historical also,it has a lovely terrace upstairs to relax soaking up the sun,the only thing I would like to have would be a mirror in the bedroom, the only mirror was in the shower room,as it is a shared bathroom we have to wait for someone to finish having a shower so we can get ready ourselves,if we have to go out then that delays us,some guests don’t really leave the shower room as clean as they found it,but this isn’t the staff or the hosts fault,I think people should have conscience really and leave the sink and shower and the toilet clean after using it,this was a very different experience for us to stay in a place where toilet facilities are shared,we will still come back as we did enjoy, beds are comfortable and as the name of this guesthouse says it is very cosy indeed, overall as I say above it was a lovely experience and the host was so lovely I cannot praise him enough and I totally recommend the lovely cosy guest house in Faro, thank you very much Sr Francisco for the lovely hospitality which makes up for everything,Regards...
