A cute charming boutique hotel in the center of Faro close to all sights to see and restaurants nearby. Location is perfect. The staff working there is very friendly and will go out of their way to try to make your stay as pleasant as possible, however a bit stuck in limited ways. The breakfast for instance is plentyfull and offers a wide range of bread, coffee, orange juice, fruit, cake, and plate of cheese/chorize. Everyday the same range of products which is fine however on the first day I mentioned I do not eat the meat/cheese but would still get offered the same plate. Luxury for me is to adapt and be attentive to the guests needs instead of repeating the same offer every day. All is meant well but it would have been nice if they remembered or offered some extra options. The same goes for the rooms. The beds are very comfortable, the shower is too and the towels are soft too. However also in the rooms some details and attentiveness are missing. The room might be luxury, but there was no window to open for fresh air. (There was a balconydoor but then the curtains were so thin so everybody could see inside when you opened it) The toiletseat is plastic and loose and not comfortable, there was no socket to charge a phone or other device so had to unplug the nightlight every time..but then there was no light except for big light. When I arrived there were flies in the room everywhere (which they tried to fix but ofcourse some came back) and the shower was loose from the wall (picture). In the details you could see it was not all luxury.. Something I also didn't like too much is that the keys to the room are very big and heavy so you'd have to carry them with you all day on trips. Was it a nice hotel? Yes. Was it luxury? Also yes. But I was missing some very basic things and attentiveness and attention to detail which would make the stay more enjoyable. I would rather exchange some of the luxury to first have those basic things and attentiveness met. Overall though the stay was good. The staff was friendly and helpfull, and the dog Opus is and absolute sweetheart! Location is perfect, breakfast is nice. It's a 5 star hotel if all your needs are met in what they offer, but if you need anything outside the box it becomes a 3. I hope they will find a way to incorporate more attentiveness and this would be a great stay, I'm sure many guests had a wonderful time here. For me, I would probably choose a different location next time.

This place turned out to be a disappointment, we were perfectly comfy in our room, slept fine and it was nice to have a balcony but the place needs a refresh. Furnishings were scuffed, some lights didn’t work, and a WiFi router were hanging of a wire sticking out of our wall. We also had a crack in our sink and found a (very old and stale) bakery item in the wardrobe. We reported these to the reception, but the person we told didn’t seem to care, and neither seemed like he wanted to know about them. There was also a dog in the property that we believe belongs to the owner, this isn’t a problem as we like dogs, however he did growl and bark at us every time we left or came in when he was around. We also had some moisturiser, that we left in the mini fridge, go missing after being out the first day. We weren’t told that there was to be nothing left in the fridge apart from the items in there but this seemed strange for it to be cleared out. All in all, it was a place to crash after exploring for the day and it served that purpose but I can’t describe this as luxury.

★☆☆☆☆ – An Absolute Joke of a “Luxury” Guesthouse

If you value your money, sanity, and basic respect, do NOT stay at Opus One Guesthouse in Faro. Our experience was so appalling that I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

First off, the way we were treated when we dared to raise an issue was nothing short of disgusting. A small matter (which wasn’t even our fault) went from calm conversation to the staff turning into the rudest, most disrespectful people I’ve ever encountered in hospitality. Their sudden change in tone was jaw-dropping, one minute friendly, the next minute nasty and condescending.

They tried to slap us with hidden charges for the most ridiculous things, tea bags, coffee, and even toothpaste. Yes, toothpaste. In 2025 They're charging us for teabags and toothpaste. As if that wasn’t laughable enough, they attempted to charge us for a bedsheet with a “burn hole” they never once mentioned during our entire stay, only dropping this little surprise on us at the very last minute when we were checking out.

The “queen bed” they proudly advertised? Absolute nonsense. It was literally two separate beds shoved together, leaving a lovely gap right down the middle. Comfort? Forget it.

The coffee machine in our room was useless, unless you enjoy appliances that don’t work without fuss. And as for the room itself, I guess “luxury” now means holes in the walls from old power sockets that they’ve half-heartedly covered up.

This place has the audacity to market itself as a luxury guesthouse, but the reality is an overpriced, poorly managed, run-down property with staff who clearly believe rudeness is part of the décor.

Avoid this place at all costs as there are far better places in Faro that actually deserve your money and won’t treat you like an...
