Update December 2022: Each course was mediocre at best, it is so sad to see a once exceptional restaurant descend to this level. I know that they have major staffing problems with an extremely high turnover of staff, maybe this explains the problem. Sadly I still cannot recommend this restaurant, the competition on Madeira is fierce and there are plenty of better options available.
Update December 2021: Service not great, and after waiting 45 minutes for food it was average at best. No real apology either for the slow service. So disappointed as loved this place last year. I am leaving my original review here, but based on our latest visit can't really continue to recommend it. Hopefully your experience will be better.
Superb food and great value lunch menu. Will definitely return for dinner menu. Highly recommended.
Return to my favourite restaurant for two of my favourite meals of this trip. Crispy Prawn starter, and Crispy Belly Pork for main. The "crackling" belly pork skin is so, so good, I would happily pay for a plate of this alone. The wine is fantastic, and terrific value for money. I will miss this...

Never have I had a set menu for 23 euros or any other currency for this quality, my whole family have just had a 3 course meal which none of us could fault! The prawns for a starter were absolutely amazing crispy coating but succulent in the middle with a combination of sage and other different acomplements that married the flavours perfectly. Then for the main course I had the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly melted in the mouth with perfect potatoes and veg as well as a beautiful mushroom sauce. My dad had the fillet steak with similar reviews that came with a rich beautiful green peppercorn sauce all of which tasted perfect.
The waiting staff are amazing and knowledgeable on every dish and their history. I cannot stress how good this place is, value for money is second to none if you pass and don't come in you...
Read moreThe staff made the whole experience! Starting off first with a custom made Virgin Strawberry Mojito, which is one of the best drinks we've had on the island, really set the tone for a lovely evening! The specialty butter and jam for the bread also was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, the steak felt a little under seasoned but the service provided meant it was easy to overlook as the experience was a great way to round out our first evening on the island.
An extra highlight was making the staff laugh out loud with Google's decision to translate the Brisa maracuja as "Passion fruit breeze". Would definitely...
