Marisqueira Splendida — Restaurant in Funchal

Food was nice but the staff was quite rude towards customers at other tables. A waiter even called other customers “stupid people” behind their back when they asked when the food would be ready. The wait was very long even though the restaurant was far from full.

Update with reply to owner: I am very sorry that your staff is not being truthful to you. The other table were sat right behind us and had been waiting for quite a while when they asked about the wait time. We did NOT ask the waiter about the situation. Instead the waiter very loudly proclaimed to us how stupid he thought the other customers were being - all while we sat uncomfortably and listened to his rant. I seriously doubt the other customer apologised due to how unprofessional, nasty and aggressive your waiter acted. If such a small criticism can cause such an aggressive response, maybe a certain someone should not be in the service industry. Good luck with him...

The best food and experience we have had in Madeira. The service is absolutely (almost absurdly ;)) outstanding! Also child friendly, and supporting all sorts of needs. Wow, and huge thank you! The food was fresh and delicious! AMAZING octopus and squid, these are really difficult to prepare, but here, both in the spaghetti, the fish combo these were absolutely perfect, and the octopus dish was absolutely fabulous (by far the best octopus I have ever had). The fish combo came with 2 sauces, but the fish was so delicious and perfectly made that it did not need any sauce at all. The desserts were delicious as well (personally I recommend the passion fruit pudding, which was outstanding). We have ended up eating at Splendida 3 times during our 2 week stay, and they have delivered amazing food and outstanding service every single time! Highly...

Amazing fresh seafood and service and great value for money. My group shared a seafood mix plate for 2, recommended fish of the day and caprese salad. Everything tasted so fresh and perfectly cooked. The recommended fish of the day, parrot fish, was so tasty, fresh and had so much meat. It was only 16eu for a whole fish! Of course we had dessert - passionfruit cheesecake and cassata de chocolate. Both were home-made at the restaurant, and were both so delightfully light and not too sweet at all. We were not familiar with portuguese wines and requested some guidance.
