Pier House Accommodation — Hotel in Funchal

Absolutely shocked how rude someone can be.

Upon arriving at the hotel, no one was there to open the door. After calling the host, she claimed she'd "be there in a minute." Forty-five minutes later, we called again. She answered, shouted, "I said I'm coming!" and hung up. Another 45 minutes passed before she finally arrived. Without acknowledging she'd made us wait for 1.5 hours, she walked past us, went straight upstairs, and asked for our passports without a single apology.

During check-in, I inquired about certain taxes and the 100 Euro deposit, as we had booked through Booking.com. She refused to answer our questions and canceled our booking right in front of us. When I requested to speak to the owner, she stated they were "not available." Without any further explanation, we were kicked out of the hotel.

This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone until the individual responsible is replaced by someone who genuinely understands hospitality or, at the very least, possesses...

For almost a month we have been travelling across Spain and Portugal and for the whole time I have not had such a disgusting experience! They literally stole my medication which i forgot in the fridge in the room. My friend called them the very same day explaining we forgot a cooler bag with a medication and tin with caviar and of course the answer was they haven't found anything. In addition to that she forgot her swimming costume in the wardrobe and of course they haven't found it. To steel a swimming costume and caviar I kind of understand but to take someone's medication is purely disgusting act and people like that should not be let anywhere near a hospitality business. La habitación estaba evidentemente sucia, en especial la ducha, la cual estaba llena de hongos tanto en el suelo, como en la llave. La ducha en si, con marcas de sarro y de no haber sido limpiada hace mucho tiempo. El suelo de la habitación, sucio. Pedimos cambio de habitación o que por favor limpiaran, a lo que nos respondieron que "los hongos estaban en la silicona, y que no eran hongos, que era moho", pero al yo pasar un papel, estos sí salían con un mínimo esfuerzo (lo cual grabé y se los mostré). Al mostrarnos otra habitación, estaba en exactamente las mismas condiciones de aseo, por lo cual nos quedamos en la inicial. Si bien, la ubicación es buena, hay ruido y música hasta altas horas de la noche. Huele realmente horrible en los pasillos y ascensor. Nuestra reserva incluia minibar, el cual no tuvimos. Por último, no tuvimos problemas con la devolución de la fianza (la dejamos en efectivo para que fuera más sencilla), sin embargo, me llamó por teléfono la persona a cargo del lugar gritándome y tratandome realmente mal, solo por haberle dicho que necesitaba confirmar la hora de la devolución del dinero, considerando que nuestro check out era un domingo y que el día anterior (viernes, donde se supone que había personal en la recepción hasta las 18 hrs) estuvimos esperando por más de 20 minutos a que llegara alguien. Les aseguro que las demás reseñas que hacen referencia a la mala actitud y prepotencia de esta persona, son totalmente verdaderas. Lejos la persona más grosera y agresiva de toda la isla, que además me sugirió entre gritos "irme a un hotel de 5 estrellas si quería otros servicios", siendo que la limpieza, un ambiente sin hongos y salubre es algo totalmente básico y esperable de un lugar donde uno paga por su estancia. Por último, mencionar que le tuve que pedir dos veces que por favor dejara de gritarme, para que recién bajara su tono de voz, ya que la primera vez no me escuchó por estar gritando.
