Dash, Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Funchal

We had a very disappointing experience here. We ordered two cocktails – a Mojito and a Yellow Submarine – which were listed on the menu as 8 and 12 respectively. However, we were charged €29 in total. When we questioned this, the waiter claimed the numbers on the menu referred to the number of cocktails, not the prices. This makes no sense at all – if that were true, where are the actual prices listed? My boyfriend wrote a negative review about this experience, and in response, the staff claimed we were charged more because we ordered “premium rum.” That is simply not true. I’m writing this follow-up because there’s no option to reply to their response to his review – and I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to reply to mine with more false claims. When we ordered, we didn’t ask about ingredients, didn’t discuss types of alcohol – we just said the names of the cocktails we wanted. That was the entire interaction. No one mentioned anything about premium rum, not even when I directly asked about the price at the time. I absolutely would not recommend going there. We decided to give the bar a second chance and went on New year eve after the fire works . However cocktail bar decided not to service cocktail instead only bear or single alcohol . They could have made so much money from all the people walking off the marina to the bar but they decided not to and then they were closed for a whole week . Disappointed not going here again .

This was my review from last year . We had the pleasure of visiting this bar. The atmosphere of the bar is exceptional; however, when it comes to the foremost champion of the bar, the cocktails, it seems to be disappointing as the staff there seems only to know what to prepare that is on the menu when I asked for a cosmopolitan or a negroni. Interesting and innovative place where they try to bring a modern cocktail bar onto an island where only standard tropical drinks exist. Very skilled staff visually and we were impressed by the ambiance and the setting of this in Funchal.

Sadly the drinks that we received were below par compared to other cocktail bars of the same class in Europe. The drinks we ordered (Hokkaido Sour and Pecan New Fashioned) were very bland and were not sour/nutty at all (walnuts? Drink tasted like a watered down rum and Coke :( ). The menue suggest that the drinks are an explosion of taste and tasting experience, but it seemed like the bartenders had not figured out or had a thorough tasting of at least these drinks as they were a bit of a let down for such a bar.
