I didn't even get the chance to become a guest since I was so poorly welcome. I have never felt so unwanted and unattended. Unfortunately, the people running this business, or at least facing customers, lack empathy, and carry a pretentious atitude. I rang their doorbell, around 7pm, on a weekday, to ask for room information, after thoroughly looking at pictures of the property on Airbnb. I didn't get to pass through the entrance doors because I had my (small) dog with me, and I was told that my dog had to stay outside in the street, because they weren't pet friendly. I respectfully left. After a couple days, I tried again, this time without my dog. Some other guest kindly opened the door to me as they were leaving, and let me through. I meant to ask for basic info at the front desk, where there was no one sitting at 3.30 pm. I walked in through an open space, to find some people apparently hosting a staff meeting, and so I sat in the sofa's lobby waiting to be attended to, since I didn't mean to impose. While I was answering a quick phone call on my headphones, I overheard a man, who seemed to be the manager, saying that with or without my dog, he didn't want me there. I didn't even got the chance to introduce myself. They were speaking badly of a possible long term customer! I'm a fluent english speaker and a Portuguese citizen (born and raised in Lisbon's city centre). I was an Airbnb super host and owner of an historical building apartment in Bairro Alto for 15 years, and I NEVER treated anyone or anything as I WAS TREATED HERE, and I barely even entered the door of this so-called "Boutique Hotel." I even considered booking a night and literally pay to get this review published and avoid deletion. I am a proud member of the Airbnb community since the beginning (2013) both as host and traveller. This hostile behaviour stands against the values of the Airbnb community. I feel ashamed that my city has this kind of people running places to host anyone from different cultures, let alone my own. Simply unacceptable. Please don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures, anyone can decorate a house, but I guarantee you, you will not...
Read moreWhat a Gem! A quiet oasis just minutes away from foodie paradise the TimeOut Market, within easy reach of the lively Chiado and Bairro Alto areas and for the very fit, walking distance to the historic Alfama area. We stayed 3 nights in the luxurious and beautifully decorated penthouse with a spacious terrace overlooking a quiet courtyard, a perfect spot for sunset cocktails. For apartments without a terrace, the communal courtyard with the sound of trickling water, adjoining an indoor bar, is welcome respite after a busy day out. Despite it being in a lively area, the complex - a well-renovated warehouse - is of quality build with good sound-proofing and security. Importantly, there are elevators to the highest floors so those with heavy luggage need not worry. The apartment itself was beautifully-appointed with a fully-equipped kitchen and a great wine list in the mini-bar. With floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the living area and bed room, it felt airy and bright. Meire and the reception staff are exceptional, warm and welcoming and offer a wealth of knowledge about Lisbon's best restaurants and bars, some of which only minutes away, and places of interest to visit. Nothing was too much to ask: All our needs were met promptly and courteously. The cleaner who we had never met helped immensely in between official cleans (once every 4 days) by making our bed, providing fresh towels and clearing our bins - thank you so much! Of particular convenience is the free use of washing machines in both buildings - great for longer-staying guests. For guests who prefer breakfast in the privacy of their apartment, a continental breakfast can delivered to the door at their preferred time each morning. Otherwise, Dear Breakfast is only minutes away. What a great introduction to Lisbon! Thank you for your generosity and warm hospitality - it has made a...
Read moreA Lisbon Gem: Unforgettable Stay in the Heart of Chiado Our recent stay here in Lisbon's vibrant Chiado district was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the beauty of the space. The renovation has been carried out with incredible attention to detail, boasting truly beautiful and stylish features throughout. The apartment was incredibly well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, which had everything we could possibly need. The bathroom was spacious, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, complete with ample storage.
The location itself was absolutely phenomenal, a true 10 out of 10! Being right in the heart of Chiado meant everything was within easy reach, making exploring the city an absolute joy. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
In addition to the above, what truly stood out above everything else was the graciousness and kindness of the staff. They genuinely made our stay a wonderful one. We would particularly like to recognise the incredible kindness shown by the ladies who were on duty on the morning of our checkout (shout-out to Soraia and Meire and the incredible cleaning ladies!) After a nasty bout of food poisoning the previous evening, they allowed us to stay in the peaceful hotel courtyard while I recovered. Their thoughtfulness and care during what was a truly awful experience made it just a little bit better, allowing us to enjoy our last moments in Lisbon in peace and quiet despite feeling very unwell.
We extend our sincere thanks to the entire team for looking after us so well. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a stay in Lisbon in an incredibly central location, where you'll not only find a beautiful and well-appointed space but also be treated with...
