We went to dinner, and I'm not used to leaving reviews, but the experience was really bad, to be honest.
We went to the restaurant and realized that the music was super loud, maybe it was our fault, but we were expecting from the website and instagram profile a chill/romantic/fancy restaurant, not one where you can't even talk.
They seated us at the first table in front of the entrance, just under the super loud speaker. Definitely not the best place for a date with your girlfriend.
The decoration, however, the place is looking really nice.
With my girlfriend, we ordered a lot of dishes: sashimi, nigiri, miso oysters x2, chicken wings, fish tartare, salad, the 3 desserts from the menu, one bottle of wine, and 3 desserts. All portions were really small, we know they're meant to be shared, but it was really tiny. We could say it's gastronomic, but I'll detail the review of each dish:
In the order we received the salad and the oysters:
The oysters were really good, 8/10. The salad was litteraly just a random slice of lettuce with soy and spicy sauce, so not good, 2/10. The tartare was good with the tofu, 6/10. The wings were good and interesting, but come on, only two tiny wings, it's like ridiculous, 6/10. The sashimi and the nigiri, we know it's fresh fish from the day, so it can change every day. We felt the fish was fresh and fat, but the taste was... literally nothing, the fish and the rice were neutral, thanks to the lot of wasabi to give taste, 2/10. (we had to ask for the nigiri because they forgot we ordered it)
All dishes were presented very nicely, with beautiful plates and decorations.
Then we had 3 desserts:
Ice cream with black beans paste was really good, 9/10. Pear with a sauce, the sauce had the same texture as water with no taste, and the Apple had no taste, not sweet at all, not even a bit, 2/10. A kind of caramel pudding, really good, 9/10. The cocktails were good, and the wine as well.
I'm writing this review because, yes, for a €185 bill for two persons, still being hungry at the end is a bit frustrating, especially when the experience was not even good (impossible to talk because the music in the restaurant felt like in a party bar). We were just on a date with my girlfriend, we are not big eaters, it's not exaggerating. We could litteraly double the dishes to have a proper dinner for two. And tastes was not so interesting beside the skills are here.
The place has potential, but I don't know, it's not a place to date because the music is really too loud. At the same time, it's not really a place to go with your friends and share a lot of dishes because everything is too small.
At the end, they still asked for a suggested tip. I'm used to always giving tips by myself, but I feel that it's not in the culture of Portugal and Europe to write and ask on the bills for an suggered...
Read moreVery mixed feelings about Ryoshi. Let's start with the positive notes: the service was great, as from the start (welcoming) till the end. I liked the explanations provided for each dish and the rhythm of serving the food was perfect. The concept of sharing is nice and the size portions are fine. Also, on a positive note : the cocktails are well balanced and original. Definitely a plus. The interior is nice but unfortunately the music was too loud which killed part of the otherwise good vibes. And then ... the food. Started with the Oysters and SMM Mushrooms (perfect spicing !) which were both very nice. Excellent start. Then the Chicken Karaage followed. Mediocre. The biggest disappointments definitely were the Slow roasted tuna (signature dish !) and the second signature dish, the sandwich with slow cooked veal (tongue). We absolutely did not fancy the tuna and the sandwich was nice "tout court" but I would not say this is a signature dish as mentioned by one of the waiters. So all in all, I would say the food was varying from “very good” to “just fine”. Last but not least, your wallet will be a lot lighter when walking out of Ryoshi. Price quality I give this place a 1,5/5. Lisbon trendy restaurants are very much hyped these days and this is a good example of that, imho.
Be reminded that all the above is a personal opinion and based upon personal taste so take it for what...
Read moreOh gosh, writing this review is almost causing me PTSD. I was looking for a sushi restaurant to take the GF. I found this close to the apartment as we didn’t wanna go far cause it was so freaking hot once we got to the sushi restaurant. We were a little bit confused after reading the menu we realized this is not your typical sushi place. I should’ve been more prepared. Frankly I probably wouldn’t have come here regardless was getting late and we decided to give it a try.
The oysters were quite frankly amazing in retrospect. I should’ve ordered more. There were a couple items that didn’t suit my pallet, but she seems like she particularly like the sandwich where they don’t tell you what kind of meat it is until after and once they told me what it was. I was a bit queasy however it tasted good, so not really sure how to take that regardless it’s definitely an experience if you are adventurous in pallet, it...
