Considered Lisbon's most picturesque funicular, leading up to the Bairro Alto and Bica neighbourhoods. Classical Lisbon tourist attraction. The Bica Funicular, sometimes known as the Elevador da Bica, is a funicular railway line in the civil parish of Misericórdia, in the municipality of Lisbon, Portugal. It connects the Rua de São Paulo with Calçada do Combro/Rua do Loreto, operated by Carris. Built in 1892, the funicular was initially moved by the water counterbalancing system, whereby movement was achieved by loading the car at the top of the hill with water until it was heavy enough to descend the hill and pull up the other car at the bottom of the hill. Then, in 1896 the Ascensor da Bica became steam powered, and in 1924 it was electrified. Timetable: every 15 minutes (approx.) 7am – 9pm Monday to Saturday, 9am – 9pm Sunday and public holidays Tickets to ride the Bica funicular can be bought onboard, from the driver. They’re €3.80, and allow two trips -- up the hill and back down, or down and then back up, on the same day. Those who purchased the 24-hour public transportation card can ride it for free. That’s the “Viva Viagem” card that’s purchased at the metro stations for €6.45.

This is going to be a detailed one ROOMS: pretty good, clean and tidy, but the mattress on the room we stayed in were uncomfortable. Since we were 3, the single bed was not a bed, not comfortable. But tbf that is the only downside of the room. Service: the rooms get cleaned everyday, and towels changed, we didn’t meet anyone as we didn’t have any problems with our stay check in: the worst experience possible, and started before we arrive because reading the reviews I knew it was going to be complicated, I tried to contact them and failed, lucky for us I read a review that had the instructions points for that. Basically you have to go the entrance, ring the bell and wait to be let inside, once inside you are going to see a machine and then do your checkin. The problem is the booking reservation number is not going to be the one to do your checkin and you have to call a number which is pretty inconvenient. Please be better at the checkin. Location: pretty good, close to a lot of bars, restaurants, plenty of places to go for breakfast nearby, I recommend Baobá, the pizza +39 is pretty good as well

Terrible….was made to wait over an hour in a non ventilated passage way just because their was a fault with this so called check-in machine and no one to help…i used to phone hung onto it to get some assistance, only to realise their was no one at the property and the machine had a fault so i couldn’t check-in….they said someone will show up in sometime….but no timeline given…after an hour a guy shows up and is trying to fix the machine asking me to wait…still no sign of checkin and they simply say they cant help it…i wonder why use a machine from a decade ago to do this…i arrived at the property at 4:30 pm and eventually got in by 5:45 pm….so goodluck to those who book it! Rooms: The shower areas are designed so poorly…the water gets flooded into the rooms…also no shelves in the shower area The location is great, but a bit sketchy at night time, the kitchen & cutlery are well equipped, overall….i wont be staying again…you dont know when will you get to check-in after having pre paid everything at the time of booking!

We were supposed to stay at the apartment for 4 nights in May 2023. Unfortunately, we had to leave the apartment after spending just the one night there. Upon arrival, the early signs were good. Though it was slightly overcomplicated to check into the apartments, requiring you to scan your photo ID (in our case passport) into a touch screen device, once in the apartment we found it to be spacious and well equipped, with plenty of room in the wardrobes for hangers to hang your clothes. We stayed in room 1.01. We had an issue with the safe and accidentally set the alarm off, but upon calling the apartment's telephone number this was quickly resolved. ||Unfortunately after that, the experience was a nightmare. The apartment is in a lively part of the city, which is good as you're in close proximity to the many restaurants and bars. However, the noise from the street is unbearable. The apartment is located directly next to a tourist attraction, one of the trams that goes up and down continuously. We'd read reviews beforehand that stated it was a little noisy, but were completely unprepared for what we experienced. The first time we heard the noise it sounded like an aeroplane flying about 10m above the building, and this, combined with the fact the 25E tram runs directly past the apartment as well, meant that with no exaggeration the noise occurred every 5 minutes from about 6.30am in the morning.||This was reason enough to want to leave, but there was much worse. We had arrived on a relatively late flight and so didn't end up going to bed until around 11.30pm-midnight. As we attempted to go to sleep, my wife became aware of what was very clearly the sound of rodents in the ceiling above our room. The continuously scuttling noise went on throughout the evening and my wife, who is terrified of rodents, was unable to sleep at all that evening. ||For these reasons, we informed the apartment the next morning that we were booking alternative accommodation for our remaining three evenings, which ended up costing us nearly £700. The manager attempted to offer us an alternative room, but as my wife was so upset we had already decided to check out and leave the hotel. We couldn't check in to our new accommodation until 3pm, so tried to make the most of the morning by doing some sightseeing, before leaving later that day. ||To give the customer facing staff some credit, they were very pleasant when we emailed them and explained to them that the level of service we had received was well below our expectations of the apartment. However, though they sympathised, they were completely unwilling to offer us a refund on our remaining stay, despite us offering to also pay for the second day as the short notice would have meant they would have not been able to offer the room to anyone else. They kept referring to the 'administration' who would not authorise them to refund us. Eventually, we stated that if we didn't receive a refund we'd be forced to share our experience, but they didn't seem to care. Funny enough, in all of the email exchanges with them, they never once denied having a rodent problem.||I would advise that if you're considering the apartment as somewhere to stay, that you opt to say somewhere else, even if a bit more expensive, as it will save you money in...

The experience started bad already in the check interactive Kiosk that was developed by partteam.pt The Kiosk it’s not bad because it’s a computer, but because is just horribly designed and I bet 85% of the people need external help to check in. Let’s say you are a family with 2 sons, you need to enter 4 times the address, city and other common data in a computer with on screen keyboard that is full of bugs. Another couple that was first had the same problem, so we called for help and with all the welcome mess you already lost 40 minutes of your holidays. Lisbon low Serviced Apartments is a good idea badly executed. The places are well located but horribly renovated, like if an architect without brains will design it. Beds are nice and big, pillows are horrible, and if the cleaning team would work in a 2 stars Hotel they will be fired after the first shift without any doubt. Don’t be surprised if you find hairs in the bathroom and food in the floor (from last customers). They knock the door to clean your room at 7 PM! Of course I don’t blame them since for sure they have to clean 20 rooms each morning and the leadership is what mostly fails when you see this level of negligence. The renovation of the apartments has some mysterious clitches: towel hangers at 1.80 meters high (really?). The soap dispenser 30 cm. away from the sink and after the hair drier! Just to mention two of them but you can make a long list. Maintenance is close to the emergency call with leaks under sink, fridge that you need to disconnect at night unless you want to sleep close to a power plant all night. I would not be masochistic enough to repeat the Lisbon experience in this apartments. Do select Lisbon Serviced apartments for your stay unless there is no...
