We had a lovely time at this guest house. The staff at reception were so friendly although they don't speak much English! ||||The building is quite tucked away but easy to find. There is no disability access and entrance to the main floor is up 2 flights of stairs.||||Our double room (201) was very small but comfortable, plenty of pillows. There was a double bed, flat screen TV with satellite, a bookshelf (? no wardbrode but a few hangers), air conditioning / heating unit and a small table and chair. There is just about enough space to walk around the bed and a little nook by the window.||The bathroom had a shower cubicle, basin and toilet. We did notice that the bathroom was not fully cleaned before our stay as there was trash in the bin from the previous occupants and some black hair in the shower (yuck).|The rest of the room was clean.||The shower had good pressure but took a minute or so for hot water to come through.|||There are shutters on the windows which are necessary as during the afternoon/evening the FULL HEAT OF THE SUN hits this room. The shutters and a/c were perfect :-)||||There is no breakfast served here. However there is a small community kitchen with a kettle, fridge and microwave for guests to use. As we were leaving - we left lots of dried packets of food in there for future guests as we had no space in our bags to take it. We left some bananas, dried fruit and spiced nuts. Whoever ends up eating it - enjoy :-)||||There is a daily maid service, they make the bed and change the towels etc.||||The reception is 24 hours and the front door is locked at night meaning you need to buzz to be let in.|We never waited longer than 20 seconds for the door to click open.|||Upon checking out at midday - there is a useful room to store luggage if you're not going straight to the airport/onwards on your journey. So no need to worry about dragging luggage around all day.||||There are many small convenience stores and cafes nearby which are all open late. Interesting graffiti artwork nearby, almost all cobbled streets (which are slippery, especially when drinking - for the ladies: wear FLAT shoes in Lisboa!) ||The main baixa/central eating/drinking/shopping areas with bars and restaurants is about 15 minutes walking distance. ||||Overall this is a good place to stay for a peaceful night, if you only require a very basic room it is perfect. ||||A few other points: there was no fire/smoke detector in our room, the wires were hanging from the ceiling. The light switches and plug sockets were all a bit loose and wobbly. There were some other random wires hanging out of the wall too above the door but this doesn't really bother me - there is a lot to see in Lisbon so no need to spend too long inside your room! I think the room we were in needed some general...
Read moreThe guesthouse is located in a quiet part of Lisbon, in one of the side streets, but perfectly connected to the center. Intendente Metro Station is a short walk away, while Rossio Square is a 10-minute walk away.||On the ground floor on the side there is a snack bar where you can have breakfast, drink coffee, across the street is a restaurant, on the side street is a mini market. At 300m there is the Lidl, several restaurants and lot of markets.||From the outside, the building is in poor condition, but don't be discouraged. The rooms are great! As a group of 7 people traveled, we had three rooms at our disposal, two double and one quadruple and all were, indeed, excellent. The beds are large and comfortable enough. High-level cleanliness - staff cleaned the room every day, cleaned the bathroom, changed towels. Something you don't expect in a boarding house though. Guest house have free wi-fi, every room have TV and airconditioner.||At our disposal was a shared kitchen - fridge, microwave, kettle.||The staff were very friendly.||We are extremely pleased with the accommodation and service at this property and any recommendation for those who have the main accommodation requirements - cleanliness, comfort, close proximity to the center and...
Read moreWe booked on booking.com We arrived prior to check in time. At first thought we had a wrong address. The front door was open. Walked up the stairs to find the check in. No one there. Looked down the hall and there were cigarette packages dirt and who knows what else. The area smelled mouldy and of smoke. Assuming that this was the wrong place I went to another hotel around the corner and questioned about the address and if it was correct. One of the staff walked back with me and appeared to have keys to the front door. He appeared shocked when the door was not locked. He called out and finally a woman answered. He took me up to the desk again and the first thing she wanted was my passport. I said I wanted to see the room. Well the pictures on the web site do not represent what your getting. At that point I told her that we wouldn't be staying there. I quickly found another hotel and went on line to cancel the reservation. Thank goodness I didn't have to give any credit card to...
