Guest House Bela Flor — Hotel in Lisbon

Warning!! Do NOT Stay here. Extremely Rude and Disdain Owners. I booked two double rooms at this property with one card. They canceled/ rejected the second (and cheaper) room which was for a friend of mine, who is owner of the card and was going to join us the next day, saying that the name of the guest does not match the name of the credit card owner. They did not cancel my booking which was non refundable and charged my friend's card for it. At the same time they said that they would not let me and my sister stay at the room because we do not own the credit card which they charged. So they denied us service but also expected us to pay for it. They also charged the tourist tax which they were not even allowed to charge on the card as it is supposed to be payed at the property and wasn't even part of the bill. I tried to call them but their phone lines do not work properly and I couldn't get through (you can call them right now, there is a 70% chance that you won't reach them). Booking.com asked them to either honour both bookings or cancel both bookings with full refund but they refused. They were not only extremely rude to the Booking.com representatives (at least this is what booking.com told me) but also plainly refused to both letting us stay or refunding our money and told booking.com to stop calling and bothering them. We were willing to show an authorisation letter and the card owner was going to come the next day anyway. So we decided to go to the hostel on the second day of our booking instead of the first day as the credit card owner would be with us (and tried to call and inform them but they would not pick up the call). However they cancelled our booking on the day of check in and it has been over 3 weeks and they have still not returned us the 11 Euros that according to Booking.com we should be getting back in case of the property cancelling our stay. So that is extremely illegal as well. We have to initiate a request with our credit card company to get this fixed. To sum it all up, they were extremely incompetent (they couldn't even read who owned the card) and rude with a complete lack of empathy and to make things worse this was the Easter weekend with all other properties booked. I know if you are looking at this property, the only reason is that you are looking for a good deal but trust me that this is not a good deal. I wish I had read the reviews before booking this property. Please do not make the same mistake as I did. Do not stay here. Avoid dealing with any such scenario during your vacation and ruining your day dealing with similar or worse cases. I was staying in this dirty close to most horrible hostel I had even been in, waiting for tomorrow to move out. And then I saw the owner telling two not Portuguese young girls that he would not give them back the money for 4 days of reservation, because they didn't arrive on time for the check-in the first day... They said they couldn't arrive earlier, but planned to stay the remaining days. The owner cancelled the reservation, took the payment for all the days. ||When the girls claimed they were going to complain to Booking, because this goes against their reservation policy, the insane man took their luggage, throw them downstairs and then started to push the girls so they would leave... they almost fell downstairs, they were very tiny. I told him to behave nice but he claimed it is his property and can do what he wants.||||This guy is the worst disgrace for humanity I have ever seen, he was laughing and enjoying it. I really hope he makes something that puts him in jail. The girls told me they went to the police, hopefully they will do something...||||Do not come to this trash place ever, for your own...

We wanted a place to stay close to the center of Lisbon. It was very hard to find. Everything booked. At least we found this low-priced family "hotel" located very good with walking distance to Centro, Alto Bairro, Alfama etc. As it is a budget hotel with low rate you can't expect too much. This is not a 5 star Sheraton hotel! You get what you pay for! It's also good idea to read the conditions WELL before you book. We were satisfied. Clean rooms. Good beds. Helpful owner. Some additional costs we didn't liked but anyway, the price for the rooms was very low, so why complain….? Excellent place for low-budget travelers. Abraço...
