Alternative to busy line 28. Everything is the same except trip to view point at Bairro Alto. There is overlap on most part to 28 line. You can ride as long as you want so I suggest to hop on without free seat, wait for free spot and enjoy the view. You will reach view points in Alfama and the Castle. And whole line covers Alfama and Baixa.

Very good alternative to the super packed tram 28. We took it in the stop before the tram 28 starts and was empty. It’s a circular line so you can do the whole thing in less than 30 min and then stop on the top, next to the castle to come back down by walk.

Hemos cogido este tranvía 🚊 por recomendación de la guía del free tour. Es una línea circular que tarda 40 min y recorre lo principal de Lisboa. Tal y como nos contarán puedes hacer la ruta circular, sin embargo, al llegar a la plaza Martín Moniz nos hicieron bajar a todos "Last Stop". Recomiendo empezar en la plaza de Luis Camoes, pues apenas hay gente y se tiene que esperar muchísimo menos, en la otra, son 40min. El trayecto es muy bonito y ves lo principal. Si ves algún blog igual recomiendan la 28, que es como más Instagrameable, al ser la más famosa, pero hay mucha cola y enseguida se llena y puede no ser tan agradable.

Forget Tram 28. It may be iconic, but there’s a huge line for it at all times, while Tram 12 has almost the exact same route, the exact same vintage tram cars, the same starting point (Martim Moniz square), and basically no line at all. There’s no reason you should waste tons of your time waiting for the 28 unless you want bragging rights or something. If you want a vintage tram car that will take you up Alfama in a beautiful route, just...

Tried to board tram 12 as an alternative to tram 28. At the Martim Monez plaza, there was just one long, long line for both trams. Tried to walk to the stop just before Martim Monez to catch tram 12 but were told no trams stopped there. Disappointed since all reviews online had indicated it was easy to...
