Guesthouse Pena — Hotel in Lisbon

I stayed here for a night in October and found it a great little spot to spend a night. The room exceeded my expectations, very spacious, bright, and with a nice bed. The guesthouse has a communal bathroom and kitchen, which makes it great for those travelling on a backpacking holiday. The outside patio offers a lovely spot to have a morning coffee, and if the conditions are right, a fantastic viewing point for a sunrise. The guesthouse owner was extremely nice, she provided a tour of all the facilities and made sure I knew where everything was. She also provided a late check-in, which some hostels sometimes don't allow. If I had any elements to bring up, it would be that the kitchen is quite basic, so I'd recommend doing some shopping for supplies if you are staying a few nights. The fan in the bedroom was also damaged, so the night was quite humid even in October. Finally, if you have accessibility requirements, the steps in Lisbon may prove difficult, and I highly suggest you check that you will be comfortable walking along them. But the charm of the guesthouse, the warm welcome from the owner, and the spacious bedroom, make this one I'd definitely recommend if it fits what you are looking for. Big room with a lot of space to move around that has a refrigerator and daily amenities. Smooth check in even if you arrive later than the usual times. Cold room at the check in which was at night for us. Texted the host and she said yeah sorry I'll bring an electric heater tomorrow. We got sick at night even wearing 2 sweaters. the problem is that if she knows that the rooms are cold she should leave an electric heater and we shouldn't have to ask for it or get sick because of it. The location is not easy to get to if you're getting a taxi because it's on a hill and the drivers couldn't get up so we had to climb the hill, not very practical if you have big luggages. When we arrived at the guesthouse the host wasn't there even if we told her our arrival time. We waited 15 minutes for her, and when we finally got inside it was horrible. The room was dirty, the sheets were full of hair and hairs, and there were spots on the blanket too. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned, and the towels were dirty too. The curtains were full of vomit. We immediately called the host to tell her the situation and ask her to clean the room but she was not collaborative at all. She only changed the sheets and towels. The new towels were still dirty. The guesthouse is also located in a very bad neighborhood.
