DO NOT STAY HERE. First of all, my boyfriend and myself have stayed in hostels for years across the world. We stayed in multiple hostels in Spain and Portugal on this trip alone and we know what to expect when we book to stay in a hostel. We knew the hostel was far from the centre of town when we booked it, which didn't bother us at the time, we are both active people and a walk along the river to town was not unappealing, but if being close to town is important, this is not the place for you. We had a private twin room which was fine, but nothing special. Very basic amenities in the room. However, along our corridor, we were the only room that was not part of a school group. It is not the fault of the hostel that the group were loud and rowdy, but quiet hours were not enforced by staff and therefore trying to get a good night's sleep was difficult. When allocating rooms you'd have thought that the staff would have tried to assign guests away from a group like this to avoid complaints. However we understood that it was not the fault of the staff if other guests were being loud. Next, after we checked in we went to use the kitchen which was an absolute disgrace; food and rubbish left all over the counters and floors, when we opened the shared fridge, there was an overwhelming stench from expired leftovers and open containers everywhere. When we complained about the fridge, we were told that that's the way it is and that its other guests fault that they don't take their old food with them. We have never stayed in a hostel where there has not been some labelling or clear out system in place for the fridge precisely for this reason. After we complained, the kitchen was cleaned by staff, however when we returned that evening, the kitchen was yet again in a disgusting state, again when we complained to staff we were told that there was nothing that could be done as other guests were leaving it like that. We once again understood that staff are not responsible for guests behaviour, but this was obviously a recurring issue that was not being handled. Lastly the bathrooms were possibly the worst of all, dark and dingy cubicles with black walls. No lights in the showers so you're almost trying to use your phone torch to shower by, the darkness may be on purpose so you can't see the mould and grime on the walls of the shower. To the point where you feel dirty to even be standing in the showers. When we asked if the showers could be cleaned more thoroughly, again staff told us that that's just the way things were and nothing would be done about it. All of these things in general, the distance from town, the noisy guests and the messy kitchen, were not directly the fault of hostel itself, however this combined with the dirty showers and the attitude of staff who never offered us an apology or a good solution to these problems made this hostel unstayable. We had four nights booked, we only stayed two and checked out early. We received no refund, nor an apology. We emailed the manager directly (who we were told is only in office once a week?) and never got a response. Absolutely do not recommend. Take your money anywhere...
Read moreIt has been the WORST experience ever. Because THEY DELETED OUR PICTURES from booking.com. We are going to share here the same. We are hoping that they are not going to delete it now....||||This place is the worst nightmare ever. We woke up in the middle of the night for scratching ourselves so we turned on the lights and we saw the bugs on the bedsheet:(( we immediately went to the reception. The reciptionist guy didn't speek English so we couldn't make a complainment.||We couldn't do anything, not even to call the manager, so we accepted the other room that the guy offered to us and you can imagine how good we slept. Next day we tried to speek with an other reciptionist but she didn't really care about the situation she even told us that we brought the bedbugs inside the hostel. We asked for the manager but he wasn't in the building and we didn't get his number, we couldn't reach him.||IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE BEDBUGS, then you know that it is really hard to get rid of them and easy to take them home with you. By the way the room didn't look like as on the pictures and the bathroom was dirty, only 1 shower was working out of 3, also we got the room -106, so we definitely didn't got a view on the river, and it is far from the center.||I don't recommend this place. The price is really not fair in compare to other places.||Try to avoid this...
Read moreI wanted to CRY as we came into the room.
Upon entering, the check in cashier required ALL family member's passports including the Minors who have no association with the booking and is probably some violation of hotel & hostel management laws and our passport data was likely been sold on the black market, however that is beside the point.
Our family got a four person room and to our disappointment, we opened the door to a sad old room that reeked of Lysol wipes from what little they cleaned. The entire building was extremely old and unmaintained. The mens bathroom was ONLY ON THE FIRST FLOOR (Yes, you head me, no bathroom in the rooms). Additonally the bathing area and toilet were in the same area and next to eachother with little to no privacy. Don't bathe here if you have kids. I've been told that there's a breakfast included but I'll be gone before the local roosters are awake.
Do not come with a family unless your expectations are very low or have set the goal of traveling budget friendly. Not for me or anyone in my family but may...
