A Wonderful Dining Experience with Room for Improvement
Bocca in Fox do Douro offers a truly delightful dining experience. The ambiance is charming, with a modern yet cozy design that perfectly complements the stunning views of the Douro River. The food is exceptional—every dish we tried was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The menu showcases a fantastic blend of traditional and contemporary cuisine, and it’s clear that great care goes into every plate.
However, the service could use some improvement. While the staff were polite and friendly, the pace was notably slow. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our drinks, which was disappointing. It’s a shame because everything else about the experience was top-notch.

Read moreI’m deeply disappointed with my experience at Bocca. We arrived an hour before closing, hoping to simply enjoy a drink. The staff, likely the owner himself, greeted us with a cold, unwelcoming attitude, making it clear they weren’t interested in serving us and claiming they were about to close.

They were kind enough to remove the cost from the bill when I protested a bit but it should be more clear. Just ask if bread is wanted. How should a guest know it costs something if not informed by a server. Nor should a guest have to read the fine print of the menu to discover it does in fact cost something. It's a principle thing.... The food wasn’t very good. It looked really good though. Gnocchi was flavorless and some elements, as described on the menu, were forgotten and later given after it was brought to their attention. The veal was sooo chewy. The servers were very nice and the view was great it was just that the food was...
