We were delighted with our stay at the Miragaia House. Our room was nicely decorated and comfortable with colorful decor. There was a small kitchenette with nespresso machine, teapot, sink, and cooktop as well as small refrigerator. Ample closet with iron and ironing board was nice to have. Bath was fully equipped with towel warmer which is useful if one needs to rinse and quickly dry small articles of clothing. There was a small table with chairs and a large flat screen TV. The AC worked very well, in fact, it worked better than any of the larger hotels we stayed in during the trip. There is a bus stop and trolley stop nearby. Its a longer walk to the metro stop (San Bento) but it is downhill for arriving. Taxi service is available. The Miragaia House is located in an area with access limited to local residents or taxis. We presume parking is allowed for guests but we did not have a car so I suggest confirming with management. Late night entry is by key code. The breakfast is very good but not available until 8:30. We were leaving one morning for a Duoro Valley tour with pickup at 8:15. Nathali (not sure of correct spelling) was working the reception desk when we arrived. Besides being wonderfully gracious and helpful in explaining how everything worked, she kindly prepared us a plate of fruit and cheese and placed in our mini fridge so we would not have to leave hungry for the next morning. A map or the local area is provided. There is an elevator for those who don't want to use the stairs. Several excellent restaurants with river views are within walking distance. All together we couldn't have been...
Read moreVery unfortunate experience! Looked for funky; got sketchy. No one on the desk at 4 PM. Door code provided did not work [Even very helpful Porto neighbours could not open the door.]Telephone numbers provided - busy or no answer. A few hours later and after we finally secured entrance and made contact, a "person" arrived. By now as the elevator had no lights, we were no longer interested in remaining. We had arrived. The Miragiai staff had not, nor was the elevator safe. Cost us three nights accommodation [389 euros] as, of course we had not cancelled 24 hours prior. Hotel protected; tourists not! By the way, found less expensive, very adequate and well located accommodation with helpful staff and had three delightful days in Porto and...
Read moreWhat a fantastic place. We walked all over Porto city centre during our 6 day stay and agreed that Miragaia House was in the best location we could have imagined. The room was simply and beautifully decorated. It had a small kitchenette and fridge (perfect for storing supplies of excellent local cheese, ham and port!). Although by the riverfront road which was busy during the day, it was quiet at night and there was also very effective double glazing to ensure this. Ultra-comfy bed too. Breakfast was fabulous, with an array of yoghurt, fruits, rolls, pastries, ham, salami, cheese, and eggs cooked to order. Marta and Zuly and their colleague were super-helpful and friendly. We now wouldn’t consider staying anywhere...
