Very good fado experience! The students come first, they are very talented upcoming fado artists that I am 100% supporting them to grow and become like the pros that's about to come- the pros are breathtaking. The guitarists are definitely virtuoso, and the singer lady was very charismatic. We talked with the organizer gentleman after the show, there is no clapping of the audience along the music (as some other fado shows might have), as in authentic fado, it's an art and the audience's silence is a form of respect. Just like you wouldn't clap along in a classical concert even if the beat is very groovy, may I say. This fado show is also cheaper than other options I saw, which was the major reason I chose this show at first. Port wine...

Had a lovely time here listening to Fado. The host that welcomed us was very lovely and welcoming. We were there quite early and she invited us in. She also showed a lot of patience with people who arrived late (clearly states on the ticket to arrive early, so please do). The first group that performed (the students) were not my favourite (I think the Portuguese guitar player was a little sloppy and the vocalist lacked dynamics). The woman and two men that followed afterwards were phenomenal. Very skilled guitarists, musical interaction between the instruments and singer was spot on and the vocals of the young woman singing were fantastic. Definitely recommend this experience! Giving 5 starts because I think this place...

Such a great experience! My husband and I were looking to experience Fado, but didn’t want to do the full dinner thing, and also didn’t want it to feel super touristy.

We loved Fado Maior for a few reasons. It was tucked away on a little side street and the whole venue sat maybe 50 people. There was a good view from almost every seat, and it was spacious enough where you weren’t on top of people, but it still felt intimate.

We also loved that it was just an hour - we went before dinner and felt like it was the perfect amount of time. They also serve you a glass of port wine which was really nice.
