We stayed here in a big group of 12 last week. First impression of the hostel was good. Bathrooms are clean and room was decent (half the beds were on the floor though) However we encountered some experiences that are just not okay.
In one of the rooms of 6 females, it was just the 6 of us in the room. We didn’t expect anyone else to enter. In the middle of the night a male staff member came into our locked room to lock away a computer and backpack, and took several questions before telling us he was staff not a guest.
Another male staff member one night came in and out at least 6 times for a locker. He locked a phone in our room, which again was just us 6, which rang loudly several times in the night and we could not turn it off as they had taken the key.
One of the walls in our room was completely hollow and damp. One of us lent against the wall before bed and it broke in, yet the staff are claiming we had a “party” and broke the wall. This is not true. We had a few drinks in our room one night, the other times were outside the front of the hostel.
Staff are also claiming they came into our room to “check on us” after hearing “loud noises” from our room. This is simply not true, we were all asleep or going to sleep when the first time the man came in by typing out room code. We also spoke to a solo female traveller who said staff had done the same to her in her all female dorm and frightened her.
We were not told someone was coming to fix the wall, and in the process they broke one of our headphones.
Overall, the staff were rude, and we felt generally unsafe in this hostel. Had we not been in such a large group I would’ve been even more scared.
Would not recommend to any other travellers, particularly female travellers. The response to our previous review also shows the nature of these staff members. Unfriendly and...
Read moreYou get allocated a bed but the beds are already taken. My bed had someone in it. The email I recieved did explain that on occasion when this happened I can select a different bed. I then took a top bunk and noticed that all the beds were broken and there was nothing to hold on to as the bars at the top were all hanging off, and holding on to them to pull yourself up would have probably broken the whole bar. Not to mention they were so squeaky you couldn't move without the bed sqeaking and shaking. (Beds could be better)
One woman slept in 2 beds so when a new guest arrived late at night she had no where to sleep - of course this was no fault of the hostel.
Bathroom was so unclean. The cleaners did clean up but in the ladies dorm was a big one there was dry blood all down the toilet, and a reusable sanitary towel hanging on the shower which was then left on the shower floor, the bin was overflowing and not emptied, and no one bothered to get toilet roll when it ran out. If I hadn't gone every day to look for some, people would have literally gone without. We only get about 2/3 very thin rolls for a dorm of around 10 people - Again mostly no fault of the hostel ( I was unsure where to get extra rolls so I had to take them out of the other toilets by reception). I had a locker but they were all used and so I gave mine to one person who didn't have a locker and put my bag under the bed - It would be nice to mention to the cleaners to give it a little brush under the beds too :)
People in the next dorm to us were so loud screaming laughing and slamming doors all night - this was mainly on my last night when I had to be up at 3am.
Ending with positives the location was convenient, reception was a nice area, and the price was great and very affordable. Lockers were...
Read moreBucharest was the final destination for me and my friends back packing trip through Europe and we had trouble when it came to checking in to this hostel as the host had supposedly sent us and email with the code to get in when he hadn't and gave us attitude over the phone when we said we hadn't revived the email. When we finally arrived in the reception the receptionist behind the desk had put me and my friend in separate rooms, we requested that we have a bunk bed in the same room as this is what we done in every hostel in every destination on our trip. There was room in the hostel for me and friend to stay in the same room but the receptionist refused to move my friend to the same room as me despite them having room. The attitude we received|from the owner via email and the receptionist in person was enough to put us of staying in the hostel so me and my friend bailed and got a cheap hotel instead. It looked like a decent hostel but the the people who we encountered here ruined it. ||Following writing the review above on booking.com I’ve received a ‘lovely’ text message from the owner as seen in the photos I’ve attached to this review. This shows the type of people who are running this place… Admitting calling there guests names like ‘Karen’. |Very childish behaviour from people who are supposed to be running a business. ||I can also confirm that me and my friend arrived at 11:22am in the morning not in the evening not in the evening as the owner states. Within regards to requesting that me and my friend stay in the same room prior our arrival my friend had sent the hostel a message on 11 July at 4pm requesting that we stay in the same room despite having separate bookings (which can also be seen in another screen shot attached to this review)....
