This hostel has a chill, family-style tight knit vibe between the owners, volunteers, and guests. It is really centrally located and convenient to find (not far from Piata Unirii). It isn't a party hostel, it has a shared kitchen and couches in the reception area where people often chill and talk, also a nice green garden and balcony (people smoke outside.) The garden has plenty of tables and some swinging garden chairs for relaxing. Guests are encouraged to be quiet after 11. There are group dinners on some weeknights and free breakfast til 8 am, somehow this creates a tight knit, social vibe. On my first night, a group of 5 people were chilling on the couches and chatting. They invited me to come drinking with them, I didn't go, but they ended up hitting a few bars and were quiet when they came in. Guests are at a fairly wide age range. The kitchen is furnished in a cosy and quirky way with a red polka dotted table cloth and a white and red theme. It is fully outfitted with everything you need for cooking and chilling on the couch is nice as well. The room I stayed in is a spacious and clean 8 bed dorm, with cheerful green bedding. The volunteers sleep in the same dorm rooms as the guests and I ended up getting quite close to some of them even though I didn't stay long. Each guest gets a locker (one time mine was wonky, the other time it worked.) Breakfast includes muesli, cornflakes, bread, jam, and butter. There is a game room behind the reception with billiards, a ping pong table, and a guitar. There is one bathroom and two showers next to the kitchen and it felt a bit like there wasn't much privacy and you could hear everything in the bathroom and shower from the kitchen. Was a bit awkward, but typical of hostel life. All of the common rooms are surveilled...
Read moreI miss my flight to turkey after Untold festival so I decided to stay for a couple days more until I could find another flight to turkey, so I looked in the internet and in Hostelworld and I saw availability in the hostel so I decided to go to Transylvania Hostel... best decision ever!!! Really since the moment that I arrived the crew was surprisingly welcoming but especially Zoli and Andrea were to kind, helpful and really they made me feel like at home all the time, I arrived really late at night so I couldn’t pay instantly and they wait for me until the next day that I woke up with out any pressure, I was very grateful for that, then I met another guests from the hostel, Andrea took us to have some dinner in a great place called KlausenBurger with an amazing view of the city, and the most important thing it’s that the guests and the staff became friends so after that I decided to stay for the all week! Thank you guys I’m definitely going back whenever I can to Cluj and to Transylvania Hostel that’s a promise!! It’s not a good bye it’s a...
Read moreWe loved our time at Transylvania Hostel. It was full of travelers from all over, vibrant and interesting. My favorite part was the interior courtyard. It is private, has nice gardens and sitting areas. This hostel is well run. They provide breakfast, which I didn't even know was included, so that was a nice bonus surprise. They are serious about enforcing quiet times, which is good for those who are staying there and good for neighborly relations on their block. We had booked two private rooms with a shared bath. The suite was on the ground floor and quite lovely. We had an exterior locked door to the suite. The interior had additional locking doors to each of the bedrooms. This suite was big enough to sleep 6 people. One room had a full size bed and the second room had two queen beds. The hostel is close to the city center, and there is a parking garage a few blocks away from the hostel. Parking at the garage was a better rate than paying for nearby on-street parking. Clean and comfortable - we had...
