An eleven-minute walk from the Bonelli bus terminus, up steep and narrow streets, took me to Hotel Titano in the very heart of the city of San Marino. The location could not be better, a few steps from Piazza della Libertá and with most other sites within walking distance. But it's a hilly city, so beware!||I was welcomed by a friendly receptionist who spoke excellent English. She quickly checked me into room 105, which was a better category than what I had originally booked, and with a great view of Piazzetta del Titano.||The room was clean but small; if you come expecting a four-star hotel room, as the hotel claims, you will surely be disappointed. But think of it as a three-star and you'll be just fine. There was a double bed with sockets by the bed for charging your devices as well as a fridge, good AC, a small closet, a luggage rack and a desk with a chair. No space for an armchair or a coffee table as the bed pretty much filled the whole room. Two complimentary 0.5 L water bottles were provided on arrival, not replenished. You can get more from a tiny supermarket on the same block, around the corner, but it closes at 7:30 pm (by which time the whole city quiets down considerably as the day trippers leave).||The bathroom felt like it was straight out of the seventies with dark brown tiling on the walls, but it was clean and came with a walk-in shower with a hand-held showerhead and adequate water pressure.||Breakfast was served in the breakfast room from 7 to 10 daily. The spread was good: cheese, good quality cold cuts, vegetables, a few basic hot items, breads, yoghurt, juices and hot drinks.||The main restaurant, La Terrazza on the top floor, is one of the best restaurants in the city. I enjoyed dinner here on my second night. The view was great and the food tasty. Prices were fair.||All members of staff spoke English, both receptionists and waiters.||I paid 76 EUR / night, and found the hotel to be good value. Should my travels take me to San Marino again, I will not hesitate to...
Read moreHotel? More like a hostel I'd say. Not worth the 150e we paid.||Me and my friend belong to the unlucky group of the room 105 survivors. Had we seen the reviews from summer 2025, we would not have stayed here. Unfortunately we made our booking during spring. ||- The room is run down and dirty, the walls are scuffed, there are stains on the bed sheets, there's a piece missing from the bathroom door and to top it all, the ac unit looks disgusting and is loud. We had to turn it off to sleep.||- The checking in was pleasant (different person) but as soon as we raised the issue of the state of the room (we also requested separate twin beds, which we did not have as the beds were pushed together and so there was only one sheet), the customer service changed all together. The new lady we talked to completely dismissed our disappointment in the expensive yet dirty room. No apologies at all, no acknowledgement of any kind, the only thing they did was separate the beds and give one more set of sheets. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable. We were asked about the room again in the morning and we told the staff as much. The response was more or less a shoulder shrug.|- you can hear everything from the street and hallways as there is no soundproofing. We even heard the crickets(but also the yelling and dogs barking etc). When we mentioned this, the answer was a dismissive "a quiet room in old town? Please". For the record we have stayed at multiple hotels(and hostels) in multiple countries and have never had this issue (old town or not).|- the shower is just as bad so you can't wash away the dirt from the room. It's quite small and the water easily takes over the whole bathroom floor.|- the breakfast is quite basic, the selection/food options could be better but the fresh fruit was a very nice touch.||Never will I ever step foot in any hotel or restaurant owned by this company. Furthermore, I would wish this for my worst enemy as I don't want them...
Read moreTitano Suites is located in the historic city center, close to everything important, along Collegio street between Piazza Liberta and Piazza Garibaldi. You can't ask for a more central location. ||It also has the best view of the entire country from its many suites. A regular room such as the one we had only had one small window but the view was amazing!||As you'd expect from a small boutique hotel occupying one of the old structures, it didn't have al to rooms. half of them being suites. The regular rooms were quite small, though we still managed to lay out two large suitcase on the floor - barely. ||The room had a couple of design details that we appreciated - the consistent use of iron - on the headboard, on the wall lamps, on the night tables - as well as the consistent use of red ochre - on the walls, on the ceiling drawings. Also appreciate the drop ceiling. What we didn't appreciate was that the iron criss-cross headboard hurt our heads as soon as the head slipped out of the pillow. Ouch!||The bathroom was small but smartly-laid out. My wife appreciated that there were no closets under the sink board, helping create a sense of space. They also had three towels per person - face, hand and bath, which few hotels supplied. ||Breakfast was relatively modest - no vegetables, no fish, just typical basic continental fare.||Dinner at the La Terrazzo was superb and not at all pricey. It's supposedly one of the best fine dining places - and after our dinner, we agreed. The local tasting menu was very good. Our server's attitude, Sebastiane, was very commendable.||We also appreciated the service orientation of the front desk person, Marco, He was very accommodating. My wife's laptop trackpad wasn't functioning and Marco grabbed the office mouse and lent it to her - and just asked her to return it...
