Guaita Tower, also known as the Prima Torre, is the oldest and most iconic of the three towers of San Marino. Built in the 11th century, it served as both a fortress and a prison over the centuries, and today stands as a powerful symbol of San Marino’s long-standing independence and history. As one of the main attractions of the country, the tower is a must-see for anyone visiting this ancient republic. If you have the Museum Pass, you can access it without any additional cost, which makes it even more worthwhile. The tower is not just historically significant—it also offers absolutely stunning panoramic views over San Marino and the surrounding countryside. Inside the fortress complex, visitors can explore almost everything: the small but charming Church of Santa Barbara, the watchtower, and the bell tower. During my visit, there was also a small exhibition inside the old prison cells, which were open and accessible to visitors. It gave a fascinating glimpse into the past and added even more depth to the experience. Overall, Guaita Tower is a perfect blend of history, architecture, and breathtaking views. Don’t miss it if you're in San Marino!

We had a really great experience visiting the Guaita Tower in San Marino. The views from the top are absolutely stunning — you can see the city, the rolling hills, and even all the way out to the sea on a clear day. Even though there were quite a lot of people when we visited, we didn’t have to wait in line at all, which was a really nice surprise. It felt calm and cozy the whole time, and the city itself has such a warm and welcoming vibe.

Tickets were around €11 per person (definitely check the exact price), and with that ticket you also get access to the other towers and museums. We only had time to visit the first tower, but even just that one made the trip worth it. The climb is exciting, and while the height might feel a little scary — my little sister definitely thought so — it’s totally safe, and the views are worth every step.

Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip to San Marino. It was peaceful, well-organized, and left us with such great memories. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting — don’t...
