Book this hotel without hesitation and then read why:
In my first hour here I had some small issue with ordering coffee and it left me a bit concerned about the rest of my stay. The reason I mention this is because issues may happen any time and any place but the follow up and how those issues are handled are what is more important.
After 2 nights, I have extended for a 3rd. The issue I had with the gentleman was probably miscommunication. The next time I saw him, he greeted me very warmly. I also noticed his excellent customer service for another family with a young child that helped me to understand, the issue I had was small and this man is actually very kind and helpful to the clientele of Hotel Prag. All of the people of Hotel Prag are smiling and friendly. The breakfast buffet is hot and fresh with plentiful options. There is also an a la carte restaurant with breakfast options (as well as lunch and dinner) with outdoor seating, plants, and enjoyable street view.
My room is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Although it is small, that is what I paid for. There are larger rooms that cost more but it is actually a great bonus to have the option to be in a really good hotel and take a smaller room for lesser cost. The bed is comfortable and there is a spacious desk space for me to spend time on the laptop. There is perfect natural lighting during the day. The room is near the intersection of 2 streets but very quiet. Ideal location, minutes from the river and Belgrade Waterfront. Minutes in another direction from the pedestrian zone of Knez Mihailova with museums and so many restaurants. Just a few more minutes to the fortress or city parks. 2 grocery stores just across the street and the neighborhood green market with fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses and flowers just 3 minutes away (Zeleni Venac).
Again, the facilities are clean and in a really good location. Jelena at the front desk was extremely kind and helpful, pleasant to speak with. Another woman I spoke with at breakfast even wrote me her family recipe for...
Read moreThis was my 3rd or 4th stay at Hotel Prag, because it is very centrally located in Belgrade. The hotel is wonderful with modern rooms, which are light and accommodating. My large bed was firm and excellent. As always, when possible, I slept with the window opened and the A/C off. No problem, because the street was quiet at night and my room was located on a high floor. Several foreign language TV news channels available. The bathroom had a transparent shower cabin, which can be closed, to avoid splashing water all over the bathroom. Excellent housekeeping, as my room was cleaned whilst I had breakfast. Very good and fresh breakfast, buffet style, was served in a fairly new and big breakfast room in the basement, although I was missing good solid rye-bread. The hotel features an elevated restaurant on the ground floor and an outside coffee shop. I booked my room directly online and extended my stay by one day upon arrival. Next time I visit Belgrade, Hotel Prag will be my choice. Last, but not least, there is a public bus to the airport only 200 or 300 meters from the hotel. This bus (no. 72) is free of charge, as is all public transport...
Read moreThere was visible mold in the bathroom. The air conditioning was not working. The bathroom door could not be closed and squeaked extremely loudly. The same problem seemed to exist in the neighboring rooms, as I heard doors opening and closing throughout the night.Walls and wallpaper were damaged and in poor condition. The window had no functioning mosquito net. Water did not drain properly in the shower, causing about 5 cm of standing water after a short time. The hotel is very run-down, stuck in the style of the 1960s, and does not match the description or photos online. For the price (including breakfast), the value for money is absolutely unacceptable. I hoped that at least breakfast would be better. While the food itself was acceptable, the coffee from an instant machine was of very poor quality and can hardly be called coffee. The orange juice was also not freshly squeezed but just low-quality nectar. I cannot understand where all the good reviews come from, as my experience was...
