Hotel Bristol — Hotel in Banská Štiavnica

There are 3 things I must value as good for sure, location in the city center and the first impressions. Also I can agree that overall was clean, but that's all.||I've got veey wired room right under the roof. There were no windows, except of one on the top, right over my bed and app. 4 meters high! There was a long bar for opening, but it was quite hard to operate it. Room was hot as a he'll with dry air. I didn't sleep at all! As there was right thunderstorm at night, the lightning keeps my eye open whole time. And as was raining and window just over my bed, I couldn't open the window to ventilate the hot and dry air.||Of course, there was a solution in a portable air conditioning, but this is quite laud. My mistake was, that I didn't turn it on when I was on my town trip outside. But I consider, this is duty of the receptionist to advice me in forward.||The receptionist was nice person, but lazy. We checked in btw 17 / 18 00. As soon as I moved my luggage up to the room, I just wanted to ask something and the reception was closed! She literally fled right after the last check-in without any effort to tell me anything useful! ||BTW, we had a strange experience with parking. I ask for it 1 month in advance and I got instructions about 5 places around the town. We choose one, which is not very close to the hotel and we moved with luggage to check in. The lady receptionist told us, that that place we R just parking in should be booked for somebody else. Nice! But than we have clarify, that it was reserved for 4 cars and I was just extra 5, which luckily fit. When I said, that she can call me if someone will claim the place, answer was like, nobody will, bcs I finish at 20:00. Nice, busy she just fled at app 18:00 without saying anything and I almost died in my weird room. And btw, the shower was really like the chippest quality. Location and outer appearance are stunning. Being inside, you pick up on typically Slovak lack of attention to detail and inconsistencies in decoration. There's a out-of-control mish-mash of art of varying quality on the walls. Mouldings by the walls are weirdly shaped and left gaping open on the endings. Light switches are placed in highly illogical places, often across the room from the doors. Hilarious lowpoint of this is a Reception itself - even when it's locked, you can turn the light on and off in there from the outside. Room was clean, no issue there. But we could find cleaning products just thrown on the coffee table in the hall. For the whole three days we stayed there, mind you! Breakfast is a pain of its own. Continental style, but this continent got smaller by a minute. Served from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, you could find disgusting egg-water before 9:00 AM where scrambled eggs once resided. More was added only on request. With a considerable delay, refill wasn't even worth the wait. Discouraged by the morning experience, we gave up on trying anything else in the restaurant and opted for establishments around the hotel. We stayed at hotel few nights. Room is very small. View outside of window nothing special - roof of building opposite. Room was clean when we arrived, but haven't been clean since then. Mostly because cleaner works only few hours. Bed comfy but pillow not (flatten - thick less than 1 inch). Location is good in centre of town. No elevator. Reception on the first floor (most of the time without receptionist or anyone else to contact). Very good internet connection. Breakfast ok, nothing special. Served as a la carte - one plate and that's it. Not too much food on plate neither. No pastry or cake. No choice of bread... Dinning room very pretty - romantic atmosphere. Dinners cheap but very oily, or greasy or salty... Not palatable at all. Restaurant open and close whenever (doesn't keep opening hours). You are not sure if you will get your food or not. Unfortunately whole attitude of employees are the same - ignoring quests or showing by face expressions we are bothering them. Very sorry to say, won't recommend it for longer stay. One...
