We spent here three nights at the beginning of January. The location is beautiful as it has a nice view on the lake (even though it is somewhat obstructed by the trees). The town centre is a 15 minute walk away. One downside of the location is the traffic noise, as the house is right on the road. The windows, although of good quality, are not sound proof and the noise of passing cars may become somewhat bothering at times, although it tends to die down at night. The apartment we were given was very spacious, with two separate bedrooms and a spacious and comfortable living room. All very clean and functional, very well heated, and with characteristically decorated rooms. Breakfast was also very good, with ample choice of cold cuts, croissants, bread, eggs made on order etc. In view of all this I would give it an excellent rating as a b&b. However the problem is that the establishment categorizes itself as a 4 star luxury hotel. This is a bit of a problem because the expectations from a 4 star hotel are inevitably much higher than those from a b&b. First of all, there was a bit of confusion in the booking stage, as they charged me on the card a deposit of 20 per cent while they were supposed to only ask for an authorization from the credit card company. They reversed the charge but then they made 2 authorization requests for the same amount which forced me to a lot of back and forth with my bank to try and clarify what had actually happened. Nothing bad, because I didn't get unduly charged, but it was a bit of a nuissance for which I didn't get a straight apology. This confusion would be acceptable for a b&b but for a 4 star hotel it is a bit annoying. They had told me that we could arrive even before check-in time as long as I would let them know. On the arrival day I texted them around 11 am that we would arrive at around 1 pm. They replied it was ok but when we arrived they told us the room was not ready as the previous guest had left late. The alternative offered was to take a walk on the lake or have lunch outside. Fine, but at least an apology and/or a welcome drink would have been in order. There was a bit of an issue also as far as the amenities in the room. Good towels and minibar, but no slippers, no shower cap, no bathrobe, no telephone (not even an intercom to communicate with the reception). All these things should be standard features in a 4 star hotel also because the price was indeed that of a 4 star hotel (not of a b&b). Another problem was that while my wife was taking a shower in the morning after our first night, the hot water suddenly disappeared completely while she was all soapy. We asked for an explanation and were told that everything was working fine: the reason for the sudden lack of hot water was simply that too many guests took a shower at the same time and the tank run out of hot water. Again, this may be acceptable in a b&b but not in a 4 star hotel. A good perk was the free private parking, although it is a bit on the crammed side. So overall a very good, albeit very expensive, bed and breakfast or an average 4 star hotel. Once you know the limitations, at least you know what to expect. Overall, I would give it a (just about)...
Read moreWe were so happy that we chose to stay at the Adora for the 3 days we had in Lake Bled. The hotel is charming — a beautiful hotel literally on Lake Bled with spectacular views and lovely, well-appointed rooms with just the right amount of warm and inviting touches. And the people who work there are also wonderful; the service was top-notch, with everyone being so nice and helpful. This is definitely a destination to put on your list for an incredible visit.||The hotel itself was very pretty, so charming from the outside. We stayed in a family room, which had 2 bedrooms and a sizable living area with comfy couches and chairs. The rooms were lovely, with nice linens and really good pull-down metallic shutters and curtains for sleeping. But, you didn’t really want to close them for too long because the views of Bled Castle and Bled Island were truly incredible! We were just amazed. The rooms included a nice Keurig coffee maker, lovely fruit, candies and chocolates. The bathroom was spacious and bright, with a good rain showerhead. ||We met several of the people who work there and they were all very helpful — Allan and Zoya were especially knowledgeable during our stay. And Evita helped us tremendously with our planning by answering our questions on WhatsApp before the trip. ||And, we have to say a huge Thank You to everyone at the hotel because a member of our family got quite sick with a stomach bug he picked up on our last day in Venice before we arrived at Adora. They helped us with some over-the-counter medicines as a first measure, and then helped us get to the urgent care center in Bled, which was very excellent. The owner of the hotel also helped us and her son, Maxim, was very kind to drive us to and back from the urgent care. We are so very grateful for all of the help and kindness that day. ||Fortunately, we were still able to later enjoy some of the truly delicious food from Chef Domen Demsar. Wow!!! He is truly talented and we were blown away with his dinner creations. We sadly weren’t able to do the tasting menu as we had planned, but the kitchen was able to accomodate an ala carte order and we are so glad. We enjoyed a remarkable shrimp bisque, some ravioli filled with local pork, and sea bass served on top of squid ink cauliflower served with local asparagus and fish oil foam. Truly a delicious meal to remember!||The location of the hotel is excellent, with super easy access to a walking path that you can take all of the way around the lake (3.7 miles) and very close access to the pletna boats, which are rowed by human power across the lake to Bled Island. It includes parking spots for the guests. It is also within close walking distance to many good places to eat and easy driving to many more. If you’re heading to Lake Bled, we would highly recommend the Adora...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights (in two different rooms) in this luxury boutique inn. Housed in a former villa just steps from the lake and with magnificent views of the island and church, this property has only a handful of comfortable and spacious suites each unique in layout and features. We stayed in the “prestige suite” on the main floor (one of the smaller rooms) and “room B” up on the 1st look (2nd story to US folks). Both had patios with outdoor furniture and view to the lake. The prestige was more expensive and a full soaking tub and larger bay area while B had a lot more space and full-on views of the island and was the size of a small apartment-so much space. Of course there aren’t elevators in these older buildings so if you aren’t on the main floor be prepared or like us travel light.||Both rooms had large comfortable king beds, L’occitane amenities and lots of cozy touches. Each had a ceiling AC unit that we didn’t really need in the cooler September nights during our visit.||Breakfast (not included) was €22 per person and We tried it the first day. This consisted of eggs cooked to order with option for meat. They also had fruit, yogurt and pastries, coffee juice and tea. As I don’t really eat eggs, we opted not to have it on days 2-3 as it seemed pricey for what I would get.||They have a small parking lot and there is no additional charge for parking.||We really like the location and were able to walk (15 min) to restaurants in town, 10 min to pletna boat to the island, and being on the lake was nice. Note you are also adjacent to the main (busy) road but once all the dray trippers left around 4, it wasn’t too bad-especially up off the main level.||All in all a lovely place to...
