Awful. It is an understatement to say that the guesthouse looks tired; our suite was simply ghastly. The shower was so dubious and old that we had to resort to baths. The curtains were too filthy to be touchable. Tiles are cracked, paint is chipping, walls are dirty. There is not even a bottle of water in the old room fridge. Add to that the most horrendous service, and you need to really avoid the place at all costs: it is not a bargain. On our arrival, we were made to ring the bell for five minutes straight before someone eventually deigned to open for us. When we checked out, we forgot in the room fridge a bag of food specialties we had just purchased in Cape Town. Nobody called us when they found the goodies. We tried to contact the guesthouse about three hours after leaving it, in order to retrieve our purchases, but none of the numbers ever responded, and it was impossible to leave a voice mail. I eventually managed to trace the owner via Messenger, and he assured us someone would be at the house to open for us. We raced back there, only to be made to wait for 20 minutes, as once again, nobody opened to our ringing the bell, nor answered the phone. Eventually, it is actually a guest who let us in! And once in, unbelievably enough, the shift person in charge appeared without explaining why he was not responding to calls nor the door bell. We then learnt that our stuff had been taken away by the cleaning staff who had found it. A day later, we were told by the owner that we could have it sent to us - as if perishables that had been handled in unknown conditions were still edible. All in all, it is not worth the location, nor any discount you may be offered...
Read moreAn absolute disappointment when you pay almost R2000 per night.
Absolutely no attention to detail. Curtains weren’t even hung neatly and is about 20 cm’s too short. No idea what has happened to the place if you compare it to the other reviews. We had the supposed garden view room. The garden is not being looked after in the slightest, there was a whole heap of old cigarette buds lying around. The blinds in the bathroom was so dusty and hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. The windows in the bathroom couldn’t close properly, so with the massive wind on Sunday night, everything was slamming. We didn’t even have a proper fitted sheet on the bed, it was a flat sheet used as a fitted sheet. Noisiest place we’ve ever slept at. All the doors to the rooms are too short, leaving a massive gap at the top, obviously not helping with the noise level. 4 PM the guest that was in there before us, stormed into the guesthouse, shouting, trying to barge into our room, because she thought she forgot her cards there and there was no one at reception to stop her. At 1 AM Monday morning, someone rang the bell non-stop - and then checked in, also making a massive racket, so we again couldn’t sleep. Also either no maintenance is being done to the place or whatever is done is just a quick fix.

Read moreThough I didn’t personally stay at Finchley Guesthouse, I arranged a surprise for my brother and sister-in-law to celebrate her recent PhD. From the start, Wayne has been incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and kind. Coordinating everything from a distance was seamless, and Wayne’s warmth and dedication made the whole process easy and enjoyable.||From what my family shared, they had a memorable stay, and the staff’s genuine kindness truly stood out. Finchley Guesthouse helped make their time in Camps Bay extra special, and it’s clear that this place holds a commitment to exceptional hospitality.||I can’t wait to visit Finchley Guesthouse myself whenever I make it to Cape Town. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a place that feels like a home away from home. Thank you again to Wayne and the whole team for going...
