Needs improvement and the management should sit down as a group of 4 and actually try and dine here over a busy dinner service and evaluate the guest experience. Here's some starting points:
if your staff have to wear winter coats while working it's FAR TOO COLD FOR YOUR GUESTS TO SIT AND DINE. Get some heaters NOW. We were freezing cold for the duration of our meal. one of the staff had his headphones in his ear while serving. Take it out! What's more important - your next mobile phone call / the music in your ear / serving your guests?! the tables are too small and I appreciate you do sharing dishes but staff need to be trained to take the side plates away if nobody orders starters or sharing dishes as there's just no room for them with 4 main plates. the lady with the hat who took our order is rude. We get that you prefer to do your steaks medium at most but if someone orders a steak a bit more towards well done don't turn your nose up and essentially say no. Explain that you recommend they are done medium at most but are happy to do them medium-well if that's what the guest wants. After all - the guest is paying! no salt and pepper on the table and none offered, we had to ask. desserts should have come with a compote but the kitchen staff appeared to just rush it by throwing flowers on the plate to make it look pretty but it needed the compote (or the guest being advised the kitchen had run out) if you're going to charge a 200 rand deposit per person and a 50 rand artist fee in advance to secure a table don't "forget" to deduct it off the bill in the hope the guests don't realise. It just looks nasty.
We were recommended this restaurant by a friend but were really disappointed. I wouldn't recommend visiting as there's so many other lovely restaurants in...

I discovered Mon Amour when I happened upon an opening between two shops where my eyes were immediately drawn down the length of the narrow cobblestone passage, finally resting on the establishment’s ornate turquoise and gold signage- slightly reminiscent of a Baz Lurman production or a famous revue bar in Paris I once visited in my younger days. With my Interest sufficiently piqued or should I rather say - my senses prickled, I followed the narrow path and was pleasantly surprised to find that a water fountain was running the length of the passage, providing a lulling melody as I ventured forward, finally entering into a lovely oasis of a courtyard resplendent with tables and potted topiary whilst from hidden speakers Edith Piaf filled the cool air with her trademark sound. Although all this felt utterly contrived I still felt that this little piece of the 18th arrondissement was not entirely out of place in the small westen cape village of Franschhoek. And so I found it was very nearly impossible not to stay a while longer. And stay I did. The selection of food and drinks- although not overly ambitious, offered something for everyone. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. We dined outside in the courtyard, for those wanting a more refined ambience there is the option to dine in the more modern contemporary decor of the indoor salon. When next in Franschhoek give this one a try. You won’t regret...
