GOOD AFFORDABLE HOTEL in heart of Myeongdong shopping district but / Strong smells. STRONG CHEMICAL SMELLS all the time in my room and in the halls. While the hotel seems to be brand new, there are some major flaws: strong, industrial chemicals are still seeping from synthetic building materials in this facility. It is not slight, but rather strong enough to make some get a headache. Even though they have air conditioners running, the smell is still overpowering as of mid-August 2022. CLEANLINESS? Furthermore, while the room at first glance looked clean, I started to find long woman's hair all over the room, also in tiny sitting tub, in the bed covers, and a clump of it entwined in the hairdryer! How could the cleaning service miss that around the hairdryer?? Immediately the hotel felt dirty to me and I did not feel I was in a clean place. MORNING BREAKFAST OPTION: You can purchase morning breakfast which I pre-purchased. I had the beef in bun order. The lady cook is nice and multitasking counter and kitchen. The actual breakfast pack was nothing like the advertising pictures though- size was small, skimpy, and more a snack than a breakfast. The ice coffee was the best part of that meal. It is not a meal but a snack for 5,900won - actually a burger set nearby at NBB is better. EARLY CHECKIN FEES: Be aware this hotel has strict automated computer check-in at 3pm. They charge ~$10 per hour for early check-in which in my view is ridiculous and destroys customer service aspect. The staff I met were friendly and tried to be helpful, but lack of flexibility makes guests feel cheap. If a room is ready, what's the big deal not allowing people to check-in? They lose sense of good-will for customer. Positives: good bathroom, soaking tub, shower/bath combo, friendly staff, location. Overall, I will not go back. The chemical smells is over-powering and was causing breathing problems. Korea has many industrial health dangers in places you would not expect. A friend was staying at the Ibis Styles hotel across the street and they put him in a room right next to high frequency cellular network...
Read moreTHIS HOTEL LIES TO THEIR CUSTOMERS! THIS IS NOT 4-STAR HOTEL! Don’t be cheated!!!!!
1.The room is too small for 2 adults, you cant even open your suitcase. 2.They don’t have a lobby or seating area, if you come early or need a rest, you only can sit on the floor. 3.No writing table or surface in the room, the only place you can sit is your little bed. 4.The staff is rude and lacks training. We went to have breakfast and when we came back, the staff was cleaning. But the room is too small for 3 people, so I asked the housekeeper come later when we’re going out. She seemed unwilling. And when we came back, I noticed that the housekeeper put my new, clean underwear, which I left on my bed, on the top of the bed lamp! A lamp with dust! It’s definitely intolerable and unethical! I’m worried about the ability of the hotel staff to do their jobs and deeply doubt that if they can offer me a healthy, hygienic and safe environment. 5.No garden or gym, it’s ridiculous for a 4 star hotel. 6.The room is poorly soundproofed. The constant noise from the next door, the passageway, and the water pipe from neighbors will destroy your sleep. The hotel couldn’t guarantee the most basic comfort for guests, only uncomfortable drying of rooms with central heating. 7.The breakfast is terrible, unfresh orange and apple slices from yesterday were put on show.Terrible taste of the rice and spaghetti.A pitifully small restaurant, which isn't even as big as the cafe down the street. It is impossible for a buffet breakfast room in a four-star hotel to look like. Crowded bathroom for couples, even for single. I booked a Mountain View room but what I really saw were messy rooftop and the living rooms of my neighbors, you have to close the curtain all day to keep your privacy I believe that I’ve been cheated and I would never accept it. I have decided to file an official complaint with the relevant authorities, including but not limited to the Korea Tourism Organization, hotel...
Read moreWhen you enter you are greeted by two dinosaurs that gently roar and move (which I adored) and two robots at the front desk.
Check out can be fully done by the service service counter, but usually there is staff available and they love to help you out.
We stayed on the seventh floor in a twin room facing Seoul Tower.
It was clean, if a little small. You cant leave your suitcase open because it will block the walk way and your toes will find it in the dark for you.
The room has a big TV that has access room Netflix, a little pull out desk, a small table and 2 stools plus a cute little voice activated robot called Genie.
You can say "Hey Genie, turn on the lights!" or use Genies screen to order amenities or look up hotel information.
If you do order fresh towels or any other amenities, a robot will deliver it straight to your door. You open the tray indicated on the robots screen, get your stuff and then lock the tray and tap "Recieved" on the screen. You can then watch them slowly roll away and hop on the elevator by themselves :D
One big con about our room was the hot water tank. It seemed very small. If there is more than one person needing to have a shower, I would recommend that you wait for an hour between showers or you may have a cold shower. When the hot water runs out the shower starts cycling between freezing cold water and luke warm water. Admittedly the first shower was 20 minutes long but it went cold on them before they were finished so the hot water tank must be very tiny.
Overall, the hotel is clean, quiet, in a convenient location, has helpful staff and adorable dinosaurs and a robot butler.
Definitely a good choice if you start your trip off...
