I cant stress enough how full of regret I am when I booked this place. ||||The owner was OK in responding in the run up to check in, and so thought everything would be good. ||||We checked in very late and nobody was on site to 'properly' check us in and take payment. We went to our rooms, they just leave your key card with your name on it at the desk. ||||We had an early excursion the next day and so we left the hostel at around 7am and during the day we receive an aburpt message asking us to pay. I explained why we hadn't yet, and were en route bsck to the premises after our day out. The host acted "humbled" and took payment. When we returned to the room, we had a message stuck on our door tell us to pay, and of course, basically shaming us to our hostel neighbours. This was a bit of a low move, especially when they knew we checked in late to an empty desk and I explained it. ||||We were staying there a few days so I am not sure why they thought itwas necessary as to do this to us, we had all our stuff there and were we really going to run off without paying?! plus they had my credit card details holding the room as back up. ||||I put it down to culture differences. ||||Anyway, other than that the reason why this property scores so lowly is because upon preparing to check out in the early morning, several hours before official check out, and packing up, I received a shock through their plug sockets. I was electrocuted. ||||I had to go to the emergency room to get checked out in case of any internal damage, as a result, I had to pay $$$ for medical care and missed our planned and paid for excursion. And while I am still here to write this review, when I contacted the owner to let him know about the incident and that I left my suitcases in the room for the time being (as I told him the previous day that we would be checking out very early and asked where to leave the key card - to which I never actually received any response/acknowledgement). I told him I was in the emergency hospital because of his plug socket, as I guess they had some sort of faulty thing in it (which should not have been there). ||||Anyway, I again received no acknowledgement or response from the owner, and was extremely disappointed with him and his lack of compassion. ||||The booking platform just advised that no compensation was due, but my main concern was not even addressed by the booking platform or the owner...they haven't even assured me that the root problem has been looked at or taken seriously. The next person might not be so lucky and someone could die, and during all this, I received no human or empathic response from both parties. Absolutely disgusting and disappointing all round. shame on you. I would not recommend staying here. ||||They need to remove that thing in the plug socket immediately (which looks like a socket cover when not in use actually), but it is not, after I returned to the hostel to collect my suitcases, on closer inspection, it looked more like someones plug converter had snapped off and left in the socket. It is very dangerous. Hoping there is not a next time it could kill someone if they haven't removed it, especially if it is a child! But since they don't even respond, who knows if they have left it there. ||||I have since contacted the owner again, about providing me with an invoice so I could claim back the difference for choosing to stay with this host over another and not surprisingly, he ignored me yet again. I 100% regret changing my initial accommodation and staying at Sunnyhills. I only chose it because it was closer to my meet point for our excursions, I should have just stayed put with my...
Read moreWe spend 6 nights in Sunny Hill Guesthouse and it became like home to us in Seoul.||||The room is spacious. Our room is divided into bedroom and kitchen are. The kitchen has cooking utensils, full-sized fridge, washer. The wifi is fast, as expected. There is TV cable there so you would have many channels to watch (from variety to drama). There is no water filter in the room though, so you need to get water from the pantry/reception area below.||||Breakfast is quite standard. Toast witg eggs/jams/butter/cheese and cereal with milk. You need to prepare them yourself though.||||The staff, Peter, is very helpful and he speaks good English. Kudos to him. We troubled him a couple of time with food order or document printing. He was always stand by in the reception area so it's easy to catch him anytime. It is unlike any other guesthouses whose staff I seldom saw. He also suggested restaurants and tourist attractions in Seoul. He also offered to loan us a picnic mat if we would like to enjoy nearby park or Hangang park.||||Location-wise, the guesthouse might not be the nearest from the subway station, but it does not feel far once you get used to it. It took us 8-10 minutes to walk to the station without any luggage. It is located NOT in the crowded part of Hongdae; it's on the quieter side which hosts several cafes. Hongik Univ Station is also very connected to other tourist attractions in Seoul.||||There are a few convenience stores nearby if you need to grab drinks or snacks. Plenty of good restaurants as well (chicken, seafood, korean food).||||In overall, it's a really good value-for-money choice and I'm happy that we stayed there during our...

Conclusion: ne croyez pas les avis.
