Urbanstay Myeongdong — Hotel in Seoul

If you hate chatting with AI before they will let you talk to a real human when you call your bank or travel booking site, please do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. This is a loosely planned automated services apartment facility backed up by irresponsible, rude “on site” staff that are taking very long breaks. After reaching an agreement with the very difficult to find staff that I will pay W10,000 for every hour of the late checkout that i requested, totalling at W30k which will be paid upon my checkout at 2pm at their office on the 2nd floor, I left my room around 12:30 to do my laundry in the building. Then I realized that my passcode no longer works despite that my stay is extended for three hours. Then i spend the next hour and half tried to locate their staff for help - i need my luggage out of the room.

I ran around first floor and second floor. knocking on every door there was. nope! the guy who managed urbanstay apartments are not around. there is no way to reach them. the qr code at the front entrance take you to talk with an chat bot that provides info such as where the laundry room us. problem like mine needs management to take care of and there was no one around.

finally the maid showed up at my door at 2. through her I get to get in touch with the management. by then I’ve wasted one full hour in looking for help.

what happens next is shockingly inconsiderate. they will only allow me 10 minutes to pack and go! after that their staff went for prolonged lunch and became unavailable to help, they are blaming me for taking up the room for too long! i was still packing! they were extremely route and won’t stop ringing the bell as i was rushing through my packing.

This is the worse, rudest and most humiliating experience in receiving hospitality services. Do yourself a favor and this...

1. Walking distance to Myeongdong shopping district. (15mins walk)
2. Walking distance to metro station. (5mins walk)
3. Walking distance to GS25 convenient store. (2mins)
4. Room condition, clean and well taken care off.
5. Need more toilet roll if staying for more than 4/5days. Only provided 2 throughout our 8 days stay. Maybe they didnt realise. No big issue.
6. Has a washing machine with no drying capability. No detergent provided.
7. Vending style dryer available at B1 of this building. Abt 4000 WON per 50mins drying time. Need at least 50x2 time if drying alot of clothings at once.
8. Good wifi connection.
9. No vacuum machine provided. (Floor gets dirty and need to be manually clean by yourself of staying for more than 4/5days.
10. No room service. (I think)
11. No recycle plastic bag provided for your trash. Need to purchase them yourself for separation of trash for recycling purposes upon checking-out. (Was told by building maintenance guy at level 1 to redo it with proper recycling bags during our stay here when we try to clear our trash. No big issue with this.
12. Good hot water from shower. (If visit during cold weather) go
13. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided.

I will start with the positives first because there are so few. The apartment faces the East which means a sunrise view but you will need the blinds down if you want to sleep in. There is no front desk so if you dont know how to use the sign in app to get your door codes then you may be in trouble. The location is one stop away from Myeongdong which is nice but not exactly Myeongdong. If you live in Korea like i do then do not stay here. It is a tourist trap, there was not a single Korean person staying here. The room was not deep cleaned it was easy to tell. Small stains on the bed and other marks on the walls. The bed was not soft or comfortable. There was only 2 pillows provided with no extras. The worst part was the mosquitos, im not sure how they got in but the morning after the first night i woke up to find 10 mosquitos in the apartment which were full of blood. I then found almost 15 mosquito bites all over my body. I could not sleep the whole second night and almost just went back home. I paid an extremely high price for this and i am angry with how it turned out....
