LIDO — Restaurant in Barcelona

Stumbled into this establishment as a last meal before seeing a friend off for a flight. Very large menu. I ordered a dish and a cuttlefish tapas, and my friend ordered just a beer. They were out of the cuttlefish and asked if I wanted calamari instead, and I said yes. They then proceeded to bring me two large plates (one that I ordered and the other calamari) set up as entrees, i.e. with a salad, which was actually just some spring mix and no dressing or oil, vinegar, etc.

So I got some side eye from the other customers and ended up looking like a fatass eating two plates alone while my friend watched, and the kicker is that everything was very underwhelming. I distinctly remember waiting to finish eating so I could leave. The only redeeming quality is that it was reasonably priced. No wifi and no English, but...

Wouldn't know how great it could be because I was invisible. Granted it was a little busy but after the main rush!!!! I can see it's liked by families and I understand why but when you're a woman of a certain age, well......... So after getting half a glass of cava because the waiter couldn't wait for the bubbles to dissipate I was then left for 25 minutes before anyone even noticed me and then that was only because I said to another waiter when he glanced at me, "en Serio?????" He couldn't apologise enough but because three men that came in after me (separately) got served immediately I felt dismayed. Lovely Mediterranean restaurant just a short walk from Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. It’s ideal for sitting outside, whether you’re enjoying a full meal or simply relaxing with a drink.

The Sangria was excellent - refreshing and well-balanced - while the Seafood Paella was decent, though nothing particularly memorable.

Service was okay, but could have been a bit more attentive and engaged.

All in all, a solid spot to unwind with good drinks, a relaxed vibe, and a pleasant...
