From the moment we arrived, no request was too big, no question too simple. Kudos in particular to Melania! We would like to thank her profusely for exceptional service at the front desk whenever we needed something or had any questions. She's a wonderful example of excellent customer service, who listened without judgement and tried her best to get us what we needed.
We happened to always chance upon housekeeping cleaning our room and they made an effort to finish in less than 20 minutes each time. They cleaned our room everyday to a high standard --sheets, towels, and glasses changed, soaps and shampoos refilled. The water pressure and hot water service were impressive as well. Internet speeds were also the best on our trip.
We booked our tours for Park Guell and Sagrada Familia with the front desk as we couldn't get through the websites, and they offer a number of other services as well, best to just ask. Everyone was friendly, professional, and warm --from the front desk, to the servers at the buffet, to the rotating housekeeping staff.
The pool and bar on the top floor were wonderful touches as the summer approached, with bar service for food or drinks from noon. Additionally, there was a spacious lounge near the front desk to chill out and drink, a place away from the sun.
The buffet breakfast is a steal, with all the best Barcelona has to offer in an all-you-can-eat format. From whole to sliced pieces of fruit, cake, yoghurt, bread, juices, all types of bread, cheeses, cold cuts (even Iberian ham), salad, a tortilla, fried or scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages...the works. Everything tasted good too. It's open early, from 7:15am on the weekdays and 7:45am on weekends or holidays, which is a boon for travellers like us who prefer very early breakfasts. For the price, especially in the area, it offers a lot of convenience and value.
The hotel is wonderfully central to most everything you'd want to see in Barcelona and we walked to surrounding tapas bars, markets, old churches, with the Gothic quarter a stone's throw away, and even made the trek to Sagrada Familia on foot. The only time we took public transport was to Park Guell via the closest subway station Urquinaona. Arc de Triomf, Placa de Catalunya, Catedral de Barcelona, Casa Batllo, Casa Mila, and a number of places of note are all within walking distance, as are all the stores on Pg de Gracia if shopping is also your jam.
We fell in love with Barcelona because we had Vincci Gala as our launching pad, and we still miss its vibe, people, and impeccable service. What an unforgettable trip! Thank you Vincci Gala! The entire time, we felt seen, well looked after, and safe...which left us to enjoy the city without any worries at all. Our stay at Vincci Gala was phenomenal and one of the best places we stayed...
Read moreHad decided on Vincci Gala after reading the good reviews, but it fell far short of expectations, especially at a rate of over 250euro/night for a standard room.
Started on a shaky note as we checked into our room only to find that not a single towel was provided. This was rectified after we called reception.
We tried adjusting the TV in our room as it was crooked, and it fell right off the wall with a light touch!
The part that really frustrated me was the shower. The design was perplexing as the shower was in the bathtub, but it was not conducive for either. If you choose the shower, the shower screen covered less than half of the length of the bathtub and your whole bathroom will be wet. If you choose to bath, the shampoo and shower gel are attached to the wall at shoulder height, so you will need to get out of your bath to get some. The design of the bottle attachment is also really bad, as that I kept scrapping my fingers against the textured wall and it was quite painful. This whole perplexing design was exacerbated by the terrible and insincere service of at least the initial female receptionist that checked us in (we did not have any issues with subsequent receptionists). I had asked her after my bath on the first day if the bottles could be removed from the wall, and was given a flat no. I then asked that they at least fill the bottles (the conditioner was completely empty), so that it isn’t so hard to press. She claimed that housekeeping came into our room and filled the bottles. I learnt three days later that the bottle remained completely empty. We called housekeeping for a new bottle and guess what - we were given one that (1) did not come with a pump; and (2) was a standalone bottle. Which means the bottle must be removable or a standalone bottle could be provided, contrary to what the receptionist had claimed. It might have seemed like a small detail, but I really don’t think being stuck and stranded in the middle of a bath (for a second straight time) during a hotel stay is the mark of a hotel that deserves a passing grade.
I also second the feedback in several recent reviews that the soundproofing at the hotel is bad. We were woken up at 6am in the morning by the family next door rushing to pack for check out. In fact, when we were checking in, the guest that was behind us in the queue wanted to request a change of room due...

The reception had cold drinks and sweets to welcome us and friendly staff. We arrived earlier than check in time and they took our bags for us so that we could explore the city until check in time. When we returned later in the day, our room still wasn't ready but staff gave us a free drink each in the hotel while we waited, which was nice.
Our room was very nice, had a comfortable bed, a nice bathroom (although the shower was fairly average) and of course, air-con. Our room also had a small balcony overlooking the main street, and seemed to be only one of four rooms with one.
Being on the first floor, we were worried that the noise of traffic etc would bother us, but once the balcony door was closed, it was really quiet. The only noise was people leaving the nightclub across the road in the early hours of the morning, but we stayed on a Friday and Saturday night so I'd expect that, and it didn't bother me.
The atrium inside is a great touch, you can see reception and above from the corridors, and the terrace is a nice addition, although it was empty when we went up there so we didn't stay.
My only gripe with this hotel is that it has no pool, although we knew that while booking so that's not their fault! Ultimately it's a great location and a gorgeous hotel, would highly recommend.
We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on dinner...
