Is there a bad time for ice cream 🍨❓ Nooooo❗ It's always ice cream time 🕕 for me. No matter if it's Summer 🥵 or Winter 🥶, day ☀️ or night 🌙, hot 🔥 or cold ❄️, ice cream is always welcome. 😋 So why is it so difficult to find an ice cream parlor at night in BCN? 🤔 A few days ago, we had dinner out on Passeig Sant Joan with some friends at an Asian place and decided to eat an ice cream somewhere else for dessert. But, according to Maps, most of the places around were closed except one. And when we went there it was still closed. 😠 So I looked again and found Holy Madre, at Urquinaona, even further from the restaurant. I was reluctant cause had already been to another Holy Madre branch. I liked it but, as you know, I'd always rather try 🆕 spots. But my son's mood was at play there! 😅 Asi in many Argrentinian 🇦🇷 ice cream parlors, they don't offer too many flavors but I still found 2 I liked: pistachio (of course!) and dulce de leche with alfajor. 😋 The pistachio one was good but quite weak. The dulce de leche one was tasty, it really tasted like dulce de leche but it was not too heavy nor too sweet, yet I couldn't feel the alfajor. The waffle of my cone was good. 👍 The texture was great (Argentinians do know how to make gelato! 👏) but the cream melted quite fast even though the weather wasn't hot that day. The portions were generous, even for the smallest size (1 or 2 scoops) therefore the prices were not too high (€3.8, €4.8 and €5.8). 👍 The clerk was efficient but a smile would be nice from time to time. Also there's no need to hide every time I take my phone out for a pic. 🫣 I'm only interested in the cream! 😇 Holy Madre is a solid option when you're tired of Italian gelato 🇮🇹 and they're open late, which is too unusual and has to be rewarded. 🙏

Read moreI didn’t expect a 5 star rating place to serve churros from an airfryer. The taste was underwhelming (obviously this place is more „trendy“ than authentic) but also the chocolate sauce was very bitter. It was dark chocolate but didn’t taste too good in general sadly. 4 pieces with the sauce for 4,50€- okay but in the end you have half of the chocolate left without any churros. Many different ice creams flavors, with free samples too to try. (We had it as a milkshake, where you can choose 2 scoops. It was a bit too milky, so the flavors weren’t really present anymore, but still yummy) Come here for the ice cream but maybe skip on the churros &...
Read moreIt’s actually really nice ice cream. I tried chocolate, coconut and dulce de leche and greek yogurt and everything was tasting artesanal and delicious. I do have a bit of a dilemma if this is ‘gelato’ or ‘helado’ as their branding says both ‘helado campeon inside’ and ‘gelateria argentina’ and I now know they are two different kinds. I’m Italian and the texture is different from our gelato so maybe I’d call it ‘helado’ but it depends on their usage of cream. Very positive experience overall, lovely and attentive service too, I feel like I’ve tried something...
