La Margui — Restaurant in Barcelona

This is the first place I ate at when I arrived in Barcelona.

The only good thing I can say about the place is that the waiters are nice and try to speak English.

But the restaurant is dirty, the waiters are also dirty. They wear some leggings and t-shirts that shouldn’t really be worn outside the house and are covered with stains, and their hair is dirty as well. All very disheveled.

They also have lunch at the tables in the restaurant and let’s just say they don’t eat in the most elegant way.

I ordered a pork loin sandwich without the cheese and I assumed it will come with some cool vegetables but all I got was this sad bread with just some tomato paste and one pork loin strip that looked more boiled than...

Loved the atmosphere that the place and the personnel were transmitting, very family like. The service was fast and everybody very helpful, trying to accommodate us. The food was of good quality and the place spacious, good taken care of and unique, being inside the cultural center. There is also a terrace to sit outside and even though it is on the Avenue, at that point there are not too many vehicles passing, specially during the night hours. Nevertheless giving it 4 stars because I would like to see more vegetarian options. Totally...

Ressenya Restaurant La Margui, 1969

Ahir vaig tenir el plaer de tornar a La Margui, un restaurant amb ànima de barri i cor familiar, ubicat a l’emblemàtic edifici de l’Orfeó Martinenc del Clot, una institució centenària que forma part de l’ànima cultural de Barcelona.

El local és funcional però amb una forta identitat. La seva decoració, carregada de referències al folklore català, ret homenatge a la vida associativa de l’Orfeó: gegants, dracs, capgrossos, bestiari festiu, el Porc del Clot i banderes omplen l’espai d’història i tradició. Tot plegat contribueix a un ambient viu i acollidor, sempre ple de veïns, treballadors d’oficines properes i amants de la bona cuina.

Des de les seves àmplies vidrieres, es gaudeix d’una vista privilegiada a l’anella verda de la Meridiana i a la renovada zona de Glòries, fet que el converteix en un espai lluminós i ben connectat amb el nou urbanisme de la ciutat.

Però si alguna cosa defineix La Margui és l’atenció càlida i propera de la família Bachs, que regenta el restaurant amb passió. La cuina, dirigida amb saviesa per la propietària, ofereix plats casolans de proximitat, amb gust autèntic, ben elaborats i a preus més que raonables. És una cuina cassolana, honesta, sense artificis, però plena de sabor i tradició.

Tornar a La Margui és sempre una experiència gratificant, pel menjar, pel tracte i per la connexió amb una Barcelona que encara conserva la seva essència...
